Dear Head Coaches and Team Managers,
I hope this email finds you well. I am writing to introduce the newly formed Transitional Committee of the Frankston Bobcats Basketball Club, which includes myself (Adam Billing), Shane Szajwa, Bevan Dowling, Michelle Treadwell, Pam Sheedy, and Tim Wells. We are excited to take on this new challenge to allow continuation of the club in the form of the Frankston Bobcats.
As you may have been made aware through the email sent by FDBA on 13/02/2023, there have been changes to the operation of Peninsula Bobcats Basketball. With the assistance of FDBA, a new Club Committee has been formed to manage the operation of the club moving forward as a traditional community club.
The Transitional Committee held its first meeting on Tuesday, 14th February, and we discussed a range of topics to ensure the smooth transition of the club. We are committed to managing a new club membership structure and have set a plan to delegate roles and responsibilities to committee members in preparation for the Winter 2023 season.
Some of the topics that were discussed at the meeting include management of team registrations moving forward, uniform supplies for the club, assessment of training venues, and creating a values and a mission/vision statement for the newly formed Frankston Bobcats Basketball Club. The FDBA will be providing ongoing transitional support to the committee members as we work towards our goals.
We understand that many of you may have questions and concerns regarding the future of the club, and we are happy to answer them. However, we ask at this time that you kindly wait until more information surfaces after the next committee meeting, which will be communicated via email in the near future. In the meantime, we are seeking to get an indication from Head Coaches of their interest in working with the committee moving forward and from Team Managers an indication of intent from teams if they are looking to remain with the club in its new form. This can be by return email or, if you would like, a call myself on the number below or reaching out to any of the transitional committee members you are comfortable or familiar with.
We will be in touch soon to provide more information about the Winter 2023 season and introduce the new committee members in their roles once these matters have been settled. We are looking forward to working with you all and ensuring the club continues to provide an environment for its members to continue their participation in basketball.
