We planted the first 34 trees that we purchased last week at Plants of Tasmania Nursery under the Australian Government's 'Planting Trees for the Queen's Jubilee' program. A lot more to come. Anyone who has walked along the Track lately would have seen an area that is being cleared of blackberry and fuchsia in preparation for planting. This is also being done under the same program.

We have just been informed that our application for $5000 to spend on trees, site preparation and equipment has been approved, under the 'Planting Trees for the Queen's Jubilee' project. We intend to involve any community volunteers who would like to join in on a planting day down on the Landcare Track sometime in the near future. Watch this space.

Even our littlest Landcarer braved the cold yesterday down on the Track!

This week, because it was cold and windy outside, we shifted to warm and cosy, to do some potting on and to sort plants for sale at this Sunday's Palais market. Now is the perfect time to be planting natives and we have a good selection of Tassie eucalypts and lots of Blackwoods (they make great windbreaks), melaleucas, bottlebrushes and teatrees. Check us out! We love a chat.

I found a new remnant native plant growing on the boggy side of the boardwalk. It's called the angled lobelia, Lobelia anceps, and is a common low scrambling perennial plant adapted to coastal heath and brackish marshes. Very dainty.
