Inclusion Isn’t a Feature. It’s the Foundation.

If bowls wants to grow, it doesn’t start with marketing.

It starts with design.

Because here’s the quiet truth:

Many older players don’t leave because they lose skill.
They leave because the environment stops adjusting to them.

Mobility changes.
Balance changes.
Confidence shifts.

And if the club experience doesn’t evolve with that reality, participation slowly fades.

So what if we flipped the mindset?

Instead of asking:
“How do we attract younger players?”

What if we asked:
“How do we build a club where nobody feels physically left behind?”

Because when a sport becomes mobility-aware, it doesn’t shrink — it expands.

It becomes attractive to families.

It becomes appealing to adaptive sport organisations.

It becomes relevant to community health networks.

It becomes future-proof.

Bowls already has one of the lowest physical impact profiles of any competitive sport.

That’s not a weakness.

That’s leverage.

🤝 The Bigger Opportunity

We believe the next evolution of bowls includes partnerships with:

Disability and mobility advocacy organisations

Senior community groups

Allied health networks

Veterans programs

Rehabilitation and recovery programs

Not for optics.

For structural growth.

When inclusion becomes the foundation, clubs stop competing for the same aging audience — and start opening entirely new doors.

Great to catch up with the Frances community and the Border Districts Netball Club to celebrate their successful application via the Play Our Way Program. $640,000 will see the netball courts resurfaced, refenced and hopefully lit, great work.
