We play Badminton every Wed and Sat except the ones where the Hall has been booked out for FHS function.
We play at Forbes High School starting 6.30PM.

The current season is May to 24 Dec 2026. We reopened on 9 May 2026 after a break during which the court floor was being repaired.

Badminton Fees May to Dec 2026 extended season (normal season is 6 months).
A) $120 for full access, playing both Wed and Sat. Note there are some days we cannot play due to FHS’s own functions.
B) $90 for full season but one day per week on average.
C) Anyone playing part season May to Dec 2026 can pay “prorata”. This would apply to those who know when they are leaving town. Talk to me at the courts and we can work out how much to pay.
D) Casual per day rate will be $8 per day/session. For those who do not pay season rates, these rates will apply from Wednesday 27th May 2026. (We generally allow 4 days Free of charge for trials). This amount must be paid before start of playing. A cash box will be on site. Please enter your name in the register and insert cash into the box.
E) Students get a 50% discount on any of the above.

Message from our venue, FHS (Forbes High School)

"It (repair to the Badminton Courts) is getting very close now. Contractors have finished their part however we are now waiting for school assets department to sign off on the work completed and fix a couple of issues discovered with the power so that we can have it cleaned ready for use....">

The pause in Badminton played at Forbes High School (FHS) courts is continuing. Till repairs at the courts are completed we cannot re-commence Badminton.

We have tentative date of 18th April, restart. This has to be reconfirmed. Once the court maintenance is completed and we are given permission to play from FHS, Badminton will recommence.

Our existing members may be aware that the Badminton Court Floor at Forbes High School (FHS) was awaiting repairs. We are now aware of closure dates & other dates of non availability of courts:

FHS Badminton Courts Not available on:
1) 19th November Wed.
2) 8,9,10, 12 Decemeber
3) Due to reflooring the entire Term 1 of school is not available: Jan to end March 2026.

Please also note that we have not been scheduling Competitions largely due to this reason and will resume all Comps when we return in Apr2026.

We are scheduled to start the Jan-Jun 2025 Badminton season from 29/1/25 Wed. Games commence from 6.30PM at Badminton Courts of Forbes High School. First 4 Wednesdays will be social games and an oppurtinity to grade new Members. Competitions will commence from the 5th Wed viz. 26 Feb Wed.
We will continue playing Social/Practice games every Saturday, also commencing 6.30PM.
New Members are welcome. Presence during first 4 Wednesdays are critical for someone who wants to join the competitions.

Season of Jul-Dec 2024 closed on 18th Dec Wed. This season was a washout due to issues at Badminton Courts. Towards the end of the season we had only two courts out of three and we played only social games. No competitions were played in the season.

We have news of few members leaving, which is quite common for our towns of Forbes & Parkes. But we always get new members joining every season. We were sad to farewell Daniel Rasmusson on 18Dec 2024, who is a fierce competitor and rose from B to A to Super A and finished being a runners up at Super A which mean Club Vice-Champion. Best Wishes Dan for your next adventure.

Our next season will commence on 29 Jan 2025 Wed and close on 25 June 2025. We will have competitions in Singles and Doubles as we have in a normal season. First 4 Wednesdays will be non competitive and for grading new members. New Members welcome and just show up at 6.30PM at Badminton Courts, Forbes High School.

Members have been advised by email that most of this season was washed out. So no Comps for Aug-Dec 2024 season. Only social non competitive games starting 6.30PM on Wed and Sat. Per evening fee of $10 per non member player or $20 to $25 for the part season. Due to FHS Hall being booked for School function on 11Dec Wednesday, no games that day. Our annual contract with school finishes on 18 Dec Wed, which will be the final day of Badminton this season. There will be no play on Sat 21 Dec. Next season will commence mid to end Feb 2025. Will post further details ASAP.
Currently we are able to use only 2 of the 3 courts.

Cowra Japanese Garden Trip on Sunday 22 Sep 2024. For those who chose to join (6) we had a lovely time today at the Japanese Gardens. A beautiful spring day. It also doubled up as a farewell lunch afterwards for Lizzie. Started the day with a farewell breakfast.
NO NEWS ON COURT REPAIRS. INFORMAL REPORTS SUGGEST THIS SEASON IS A WIPEOUT.

We are on a break from Badminton as the Forbes High School (FHS) Badminton courts are under repairs. I will email all members and update this post once I have some news from FHS.
We stopped playing from Wed 14/8/24. This is only the second time for stoppage, in our 12 years of operation. The other time was during Covid.
Some members have shown interest to go to the Japanese Gardens at Cowra on Sun 1st Sep, first day of spring. Please email me (Jay) so that we may finalise how many vehicles to take from Forbes and Parkes. We propose to leave by 10am.

Mt. Nangar trip on 11 Aug 2024 by a group from Forbes Badminton Club. 8am start at Forbes and 4.15PM return. Most enjoyable Sunday.
