Sad to hear about the passing of Steve Loane. Steve was a great support to us in our establishment and was a great supporter in allowing us to put posts and our storage container up at Gaggin Oval.

Our thoughts are with his friends and family!

It is with the heaviest of hearts that I advise our community, that our General Manager Steve Loane passed away on Sunday 28 September.

Steve Loane was a visionary leader in Local Government, the livestock industry and rural communities across Australia.

His passing is a profound loss to all who knew him and the industries he served.

We extend our heartfelt condolences to Lisa, his children Amos, Candace, Ashley, Mitchell and Lisa’s daughter AJ.

He will be sadly missed by his grandchildren Montana, Elsa, Cash and Lachlan as well as James and Lachlan.

His legacy lives on in Forbes.

The Forbes Junior AFL Club has had a quiet year but that hasn't meant Swampies haven't been busy . We would like to highlight our current and former Swampies successes and movements throughout 2025. Once a Swampie always a Swampie! So enjoy the updates;

Swampies number 2 and 4 Jackson Beaudin and Zain Clark played in the 2025 Grand Final v Bathurst Giants AFL Club but sadly the boys went down in a close one. Both these young men were also selected in the AFL Central West representative team in 2025.

Swampies number 5 and 10 Tyson McLennan and Logan McMahon played in last weeks Grand Final for the Forbes Foxes but sadly these boys also went down in a close one

Swampie number 9 Will Northey celebrated Grand Final success with Western NSW Football in the Youth League competition and his team has been promoted to the elite junior league in 2026.

Swampie number 8 Max Ridge reached the NSWCHS State Athletics Carnival where he secured a 7th in the Javelin and narrowly missed the top 8 in Discus and after bouncing back from a serious accident

Swampie number 6 Michael Amey has been achieving great things with the Bermagui AFL team in the Sapphire Coast League since leaving the Swampies at the end of our first year in 2021.

Swampie number 3 Romulus Milsom tasted Grand Final success in 2025 with the Golden Square Football Club taking out the under 16 Reserve premiership in the Bendigo Football League last weekend.

Swampie number 11 Rees Matheson had a strong year playing for the Northern Jets Football & Netball Club in the Farrer League, kicking 7 goals and receiving 11 best on ground awards.

And finally Swampie number 7 has had an impressive two years playing for the Wests Juniors AFC in the South East Qld competition.
