We host regular social days where everyone can come and try Trugo, and we have two teams that play in the Trugo league – the Doughnuts and the Gumnuts

It’s been a massive couple of days for our club!

The Gumnuts played in the Grand Final on Saturday but sadly went down to Sandridge. The Gummies are elite though, having made 5 out of the past 6 GFs, and they’ll be back firing next year.

Then today we were privileged to have Mayor Mohamed Semra - City of Maribyrnong (along with Cr Bernadette Thomas, Cr Samantha Meredith and CEO Celia Haddock) visit us to open the new Trugo pavilion! 11 years in the making, and the result of heaps of advocacy and hard work from our club.

We’re excited at what this means for us and for the community, who will be able to hire the space when it’s not used for Trugo. No more 3x3 marquees! And indoor plumbing! Game on!!

We can’t thank Maribyrnong Council enough. You’ve made all our dreams come true ❤️

Yesterday was the VTA Trugo Premiership preliminary final. Our Gumnuts versus the break-out side of this season, the South Melbourne Penguins.

And it was never in doubt. The Gummies led by 12 at half time, to go on to win by 21. A dominant performance.

The Gums are now into next week’s grand final against top-of-the-table team Sandridge. A replay of last year’s grand final, and the Gumnuts’ 5th grand final in 6 years!

The Doughnuts played in the First Semi Final tonight against the South Melbourne Trugo Club Penguins. And those shifty Pengies rolled our team!

The final score was 144 🐧 versus 135 🍩. Well played to our great friends from South though… they really deserved their hard-fought win.

But hey next week South you’re coming up against the Gumnuts. And they won’t be easy… just saying 😉

Today was the second last home & away game before the Trugo finals.

The Doughnuts had a great score of 142 against Yarraville, their second highest for the season. And then the Gumnuts went berserk and hit an incredible 155! The highest score for any team in many years 🤯

Both Footscray teams will be in the finals which begin in 2 weeks. And who would bet against the Gummies to go back-to-back with a score like that! 🙌

It’s not often that Pradeep Tiwari - Maribyrnong City Mayor can say he’s rubbed shoulders with World Champions!

The Mayor visited our stall at the Seddon Festival today and was warmly welcomed by 2024-25 World Champions of Trugo, Nick and Viv. Hope they gave His Mayoralty some great tips on the art of the tonk!

It was amazing to see so much interest in Trugo today and we look forward to seeing everyone back at 139 Buckley St when the clubhouse reno’s are finished.

Our Trugo club was revived in 2016, and since then we’ve grown to two teams - with the Gumnuts winning 2 premierships!

It’s incredible that in the 9 years since we began that we have come so far.

We’re now about to get a new clubhouse, which will also be a fantastic space for the community to use. Thank you so much to the City of Maribyrnong for believing in us.
