For those wondering at home how hard the first 9 holes at the US Open is playing today! This should help! It’s absolutely mental out here. If the greens were any firmer or faster it’d be unplayable!!
Hole 1- Wind across from left to right. Anything long is dead!
Hole 2- Down and off the right. Tee box moved up 30m. Again pin is a few metres from back edge.
Hole 3- Straight across. Pin is a few metres from left edge of green and on the back edge.
Hole 4- Playing down wind. Pins dead!
Hole 5- Playing mainly across. Reachable in 2 if fairway is found. Normal pin! Would expect plenty of birdies and few eagles
Hole 6- Cooked! Tee shot into and long. Pin is messed up! Few players will have breakdowns!
Hole 7- Down and across from the left. Green is brutal so hard to find this hole ever easy!
Hole 8- Across from the left. Green is very firm so unless it’s from the fairway it will go long. Pin is a few feet from the back edge. Short has a false front.
Hole 9- Straight downwind. Approach shot is ridiculous. Trying to hit it high with spin and greens are firm and can’t be short. Anything left you’ll be picking it up!
Expect players to need therapy after today!! Most scratch golfers wouldn’t break 50 today on this front nine.
