Flagstone is a small but growing fast community in south-east Queensland I started looking to the sky many years ago and soon grow the passion to observe and photograph.

Watch this space 😁 seestar s50 from ZWO, simplicity doesn't come any easier then this, technology has come a long way. This device a tripod and a phone or tablet take it anywhere and get those photons collected.

Photos to come over the next few nights 😀

Tonight I'm running in eq mode 60s pictures I'll run it through pixinsight for a final image, but this little device will do a basic denoise , sharpen, stack all within its on board software pretty cool device 🌟✨️

IC 2599, commonly known as the Gabriela Mistral Nebula, is a bright emission nebula and star-forming region located in the southern constellation Carina. It is often associated with the neighboring open cluster NGC 3324, and together they are nicknamed the Gabriela Mistral Nebula due to their resemblance to the Nobel Prize-winning Chilean poet.Key Facts about IC 2599:Location: Carina constellation (Southern Sky), close to the Eta Carinae Nebula (NGC 3372).Distance: Located between 7,200 and 9,100 light-years from Earth.Structure: It is an HII ionized region that spans about 26 light-years in diameter, with young stars emitting intense ultraviolet radiation that causes the gas to glow and carves out cavities in the dust.Appearance: Often imaged in the "Hubble Palette," the nebula features bright ridges of emission and dust that resemble a human profile (the Gabriela Mistral profile). The nebula is frequently studied alongside NGC 3324, and it is a prominent target for astronomical imagers in the southern hemisphere.

NGC 3579
Statue of Liberty Nebula
Details:
NGC 3579, often referred to as part of the "Statue of Liberty Nebula" (commonly associated with the larger NGC 3576), is a bright emission nebula located approximately 9,000 light-years away in the southern constellation Carina. Situated in the Sagittarius-Carina spiral arm of the Milky Way, this region is a stellar nursery characterized by complex filaments, glowing gas, and active star formation.Key Facts and Features:Location: Carina constellation, best observed from the Southern Hemisphere.Structure: It is a vibrant star-forming region containing Bok globules—dense, compact dust clouds where new stars are born.Appearance: Its unique shape, formed by stellar winds from young, massive stars, gives it the popular moniker, often resembling the shape of the Statue of Liberty.Surroundings: It is part of a larger complex of nebulae, including NGC 3576, NGC 3582, and NGC 3584.Size: The complex spans roughly 100 light-years, providing a dramatic landscape for astrophotography, often imaged using narrowband filters to highlight hydrogen, oxygen, and sulfur emissions.NGC 3579 is often imaged by astronomers to capture the intricate details of the nebula's gaseous, star-filled structure.

NGC 3579, commonly known as the Statue of Liberty Nebula, is an emission nebula located approximately 9,000 light-years away in the southern constellation Carina. Part of the RCW 57 complex, it features vivid ionized gas and dark dust lanes, often imaged alongside the nearby nebula NGC 3572. It is best observed from the Southern Hemisphere.Key Facts about NGC 3579Location: Constellation Carina (RA 11h 13m 07s, Dec -61° 23' 12").Alternative Name: Often associated with or part of RCW 57 (or Gum 38a/b).Appearance: Its distinct, twisted shape in the center of the complex bears a resemblance to the Statue of Liberty, giving it its nickname.Characteristics: It is a bright H II region (nebula of ionized gas) where active star formation occurs.Observation: The nebula is high in the sky for southern observers (such as in Australia) and is a popular target for astrophotography, often imaged in HOO (Hydrogen-alpha/Oxygen-III) or SHO (Hubble Palette) to showcase its detailed structure.NGC 3579 is frequently surrounded by, or associated with, smaller star clusters and nebulae in the same field of view, including NGC 3572, NGC 3582, and NGC 3603

It happens this month...

A Blue Moon is the second full moon in a single calendar month (monthly definition) or the third full moon in a season containing four (seasonal definition). Occurring roughly every 2.5 years, it is a calendrical, not atmospheric, event. The phrase "once in a blue moon" means something very rare or infrequent.Key Definitions and MeaningsMonthly Blue Moon (Modern definition): The second full moon in a single calendar month. Because full moons occur every 29.5 days, a month with 31 days can sometimes hold two full moons.Seasonal Blue Moon (Traditional definition): The third full moon in a season (quarter) that contains four full moons instead of the usual three.Physical Blue Moon: An rare atmospheric occurrence where the moon actually appears bluish in color. This happens when the atmosphere is filled with dust or smoke particles (e.g., from forest fires or volcanic eruptions like Krakatoa) that scatter red light."Once in a Blue Moon" Usage Examples & SynonymsUsage Examples:"That happens only once in a blue moon, so don't count on it"."He lives in another country, so I only see him once in a blue moon.""I check the attic once in a blue moon."Synonyms/Idioms: Rarely, seldom, hardly ever, infrequently, once in a lifetime.Origin and FrequencyThe modern "two full moons in a month" definition arose from a 1946 Sky and Telescope magazine article that miscalculated a 1937 Maine Farmer's Almanac entry.Blue moons occur about 7 times every 19 years. The next Blue Moon (by monthly definition) is set to occur on August 19, 2024, and another on May 31, 2026, according to the Farmer's Almanac.A February without a full moon (which can create two blue moons in the surrounding months) will happen in 2037 and 2067.

Been a long brake from collecting photons 😱, I think its time to dust off the gear do some software updates and get back to it, we are currently in the cooler months now so typically its nebula season as i call it 😊.
In the coming weeks I'll get out and start adding more data to the already collected data to enhance past photos, and may try some new ways of different objects with telescope attachments i got before my brake, some objects will be planets, Jupiter, Mars, etc.

The hd8 celestron scope my big setup I've never done anything at my native focus witch is going to allow me to go deeper in to our sky and capture smaller and much further away from our home earth.

Stay tuned get ready for a new journey with plenty of new learnings for me with my equipment and photo bombing for the page.

Give me a thumbs up if ya ready to go for a ride 🤣.
