We support the Five Dock Rotary’s 21st Annual Charity Golf Day

The Rotary Club of Five Dock invites you to be part of their 21st Annual Charity Golf Day, being held on Thursday, 8 October 2026, on the prestigious championship course at Concord Golf Club.

This is much more than a great day of golf. It is one of their major fundraising events of the year, bringing together golfers, businesses, friends and supporters to raise funds that go straight back into helping our community.

Proceeds from this year’s Golf Day will support Stewart House, the Sir Roden & Lady Cutler Foundation, Rotary programs and other local charities and community causes.

HOW CAN YOU HELP?

PLAY – If you are a golfer, get a team together and join them for a terrific day at Concord Golf Club. Come as a group or individually – the important thing is to be there!

DINE – Not a golfer? Join them for dinner following the golf. Bring your partner, friends, colleagues or clients and enjoy the evening, including our raffles and auctions.

SPONSOR – Rotary welcome businesses and individuals who would like to support the day through one of their sponsorship opportunities. It is a great way to promote your business while directly supporting worthwhile causes.

SPREAD THE WORD – Perhaps the easiest and most valuable way you can help is simply to pass this invitation on. You may not play golf – but you almost certainly know someone who does!

The attached flyer contains full details and a QR code for bookings and further information.

We have also attached their Golf Day poster. If you have a business, workplace, club, office, noticeboard, reception area – or anywhere else people might see it – we would greatly appreciate you printing and displaying a copy.

And please feel free to forward the flyer and poster through your own network. Every additional golfer, dinner guest, sponsor and supporter helps them make the day more successful and, most importantly, enables Rotary to provide greater assistance to those who need it.

Just a friendly reminder that our Ambrose Oktoberfest Day is coming up on Saturday, 26 September 2026 . Note: there was a date error in the fixture book for Oktoberfest on the 17th of October - the correct date is SATURDAY the 26th of September.


Get ready for a fantastic day of Ambrose golf, followed by great food, German beers, and plenty of Oktoberfest fun.

BPGC weekday 9 hole comps

Just a quick heads up.

With the changeover of the Pro Shop operator coming into effect in 6-7 weeks, the Pro Shop has decided to stop the 9 hole comps, as they don't wish to accrue prize liabilities to Members or visitors that maybe hard or impossible to claim when they complete their operations.

We sincerely thank the Pro Shop, Chris and Phil, for running these comps for Members needing a quick comp fix on a weekday. It has also been a good feeder for new members, with social players getting a taste of comp golf and then wanting an official handicap. We will discuss with the new Pro Shop operators about doing something similar going forward.

In the case you are not aware Phil was unsuccessful with his tender, it has been awarded to James MacDonald from Elite Golf NSW Pty Ltd (who look to be good operators and have been running the North Turramurra Pro Shop for 15 years+). We have spoken to James and will meet soon to discuss his plans and how we can best work together going forward.

IMPORTANT NOTICE TO MEMBERS AND VISITORS PLAYING 18 HOLE COMPETITIONS

Comp Fees now payable at the bar (temporary requirement until further notice)

With the possible changing of the Pro Shop operators when Council make their decision on the tender applications the Board has decided to no longer have the Pro Shop collect our comp fees, Instead they should be paid at the bar at the half way stop. the bar will have a list of registered competitors and mark them off when paid. Anyone who forgets or fails to pay at the bar will accrue that liability, which is to be paid at the next opportunity.

This applies only to the 18 hole comp $10 comp fee - not the 9 hole comps.

NOTE: We still need to pay our council green fee at the Pro Shop where you will be registered in the competition as usual.

Barnwell Park Course Conditions – Member Update

The Match Committee continues to work closely with Council to identify opportunities that enhance and improve the playability of the course for the benefit of all members. Over the past 3–6 months, several improvements have been delivered, and we hope you’ve noticed the uplift in overall course quality and playing conditions.

Recent Improvements Across the Course

• General Course Maintenance: Fairways, green surrounds and rough areas are now being maintained to a consistently higher standard each week.
• Bunkers: Targeted program of work across the course to fix edges, sand redistribution from faces, and new rake holders installed.
• Bunker Removal: Work has commenced on filling several problematic bunkers to improve playability and reduce maintenance issues.
• Flagsticks: Older flagsticks have been replaced.
• Greens: Weekly mowing practices have greens currently cut at 4mm, resulting in truer and slightly quicker surfaces. The 16th green, which was close to being lost, has seen significant recovery. Leading into spring greens will be tined and fertilised to ensure good grass growth and coverage.
• Pathways: Road base has been laid across dirt pathways next to tee boxes to improve footing and reduce erosion.
• Safety Screens (Holes 10, 11 & 12): Installation is now complete, including a new pedestrian crossing to improve safety and a fence adjustment so that Golf Carts can travel along the pathway to the new crossing.

Ongoing Discussions with Council

We continue to work with Council to prioritise future maintenance and enhancements. These projects require time and available council funding but remain active items on our agenda. These items include but are not limited to:

• Scheduling annual tree trimming across the course
• Addressing the large bare patches on the 7th fairway
• Additional bunker removals
• Improving grass coverage across tee boxes
• Potential green extensions on some of the smaller greens

How Members Can Help Maintain Course Quality and Playability

As we head into Spring , small ongoing actions from members make a big difference to course conditions. Here are three simple ways you can help:

1. Divots: If you see a divot while walking the fairway, please take a moment to fill it with sand. A sand filled divot begins repairing within 1–2 weeks and with full grass cover in 3–4 weeks. Unfilled divots can become long term bare patches.

2. Pitch Marks: On the greens, repairing your pitch mark — and any others you notice — this helps maintain smooth putting surfaces. A repaired pitch mark heals in 24 hours; unrepaired marks can take weeks or months to recover.

3. Bunkers: After playing from a bunker, please smooth out your footprints and any others you see. This ensures fair conditions for the groups behind you. Also remember to return the rake to the new rake holders.

Hello Members

The PGA of Australia is delighted to announce The Lakes Golf Club as the proud host venue for the BMW Australian PGA Championship from 26–29 November 2026.

This marks an exciting return of the PGA of Australia’s flagship event to New South Wales for the first time in almost 30 years. Delivering an event of this scale will require strong volunteer support, and the PGA is hoping to draw primarily on the passion and commitment of the local golfing community.

The PGA would like to invite all BPGC members to take part in the volunteer program and would be grateful for your club’s support in marshalling a designated hole at The Lakes Golf Club across all four tournament days, from Thursday to Sunday. Static marshals are positioned at the tee, at crossovers where required, and around the greens, with spotters also assisting on holes that need additional support. To effectively marshal a hole throughout the tournament, a team of approximately 10–15 volunteers is recommended; however, any level of support from our members would be warmly welcomed.



To support the smooth coordination of volunteers, we will NEED SOMEONE to nominate the BPGC 2026 PGA TEAM CAPTAIN to serve as the key point of contact with the organising team. This person will help coordinate volunteer recruitment in the lead-up to the event and manage team rosters across the tournament days. Please note that a range of other volunteer opportunities will also be available for members who may wish to be involved.

A BIG thank you to all who supported the BPGC Breast Cancer Trails Fundraiser last Sunday.

We raised $742.65 for a great cause - give yourselves a pat on the back!

We would like to give special thanks to those who donated items for the lucky dip and for the raffle - THANK YOU Linda Maguire & Bronwyn Cooper, you absolute legends !
