ELARA is an important bike for Factor.
It is our new pure-speed gravel race platform, but it is also a halo expression of the way Factor approaches product development: start with a performance problem, engineer the solution, manufacture it ourselves, validate it properly, then race it.
Gravel racing has evolved rapidly. Speeds are higher, tyres are wider, courses are more specialised and the demands placed on both rider and equipment have changed. ELARA was created in response to that reality and through constant feedback from our racers.
Because our engineering, prototyping, manufacturing and testing capabilities sit within Factor, we have been able to move from insight to physical product at a development speed that would be extremely difficult to achieve through a conventional outsourced model.
ELARA is the result of that agility: a complete rethink of the pure-speed gravel race bike, designed around aerodynamic efficiency, large-volume tyres, precise handling and the ability to continue carrying speed when the surface deteriorates.
It has also undergone the longest race-testing programme of any bike Factor has previously developed, with ELARA prototypes already winning thirteen races under seven different athletes before launch.
That racing period was not simply exposure. It was part of the development process.
