When it comes to the human body, the current most dominant approach is prescriptive protocols. Someone else tells us what is best for us through precise instructions and if we don’t follow precisely, we are told to be wrong. This applies to athletic performance as well as healing practices.
We are living organisms, dynamic complex systems. We are not machines which work by instructions and linear causality.
Why do we seek instructions and repetitiveness in physical practices?
Embracing more, seeing more "and-s" than "end-s", we "walked" on our own time cloud using a compass made of our pasts and foreseeable futures. Our "present" was weaved into those questions:
How do we carry what we have (past) to face what is next (future)?
What stories do we tell ourselves?
We also practiced to test our executive functions (i.e. inhibitory control, working memory and cognitive flexibility), dear to us as developing and ageing creatures.
Choice over automation, what do we select to see, say,..?
Connecting information, what do we retain and retrieve to solve a problem?
Adjusting to change, how else can we..?
Different cultures seem to have a different hierarchy when it comes to human senses, these apply to all the senses but sight. We practically experienced how different we see and tried to better understand the visible space and the potential of emptiness when it comes to connect with others.
How do we represent what we see?
What do we share about what we see?
How far and how close are we?
We also had the pleasure of having Fleur, worldwide acclaimed artist who came to share her direct experience in the world of art and creativity. Questions and insights that came out during the conversations were alike "can creativity being improved?", "he/she is a genius vs he/she has a genius", "how does time effect the creative process?", "finding the way to bring together everything you love", "to create a single show/performance that lasts 5-7 years, you may need 5-7 years to rest-think-realise",..
I am extremely grateful for everyone who took part and made this event possible.
Thank you all.
