Figtree Saints The first Women's AFL team in the Illawarra, the Figtree Saints (previously The Wollongong Saints)

In 2010, the Wollongong Saints Women’s Australian Football League Club was established as the first and only women’s team in the Illawarra region. The Saints kicked off the competition for their third season in April 2012 defending their 2011 grand final win, which saw the club become the Division 2 Champions of the Sydney Women’s AFL. 2012 was a successful year for the Wollongong Saints after bei

ng propelled into first division with a 7th spot seeding, the Saints finished in third position. In the years we have been operating and competing as a club, many of our women players have become national representatives for NSW and played at the highest level of competition for women in AFL in NSW, and now also the National Women's League. Other achievements include 6 women from our champion team being selected to play in friendly International matches. In 2014 and 2016, the Saints were a grand final team once again and also celebrated their prestigious 5-year history in the Illawarra and Sydney AFL competition in 2014. The future is bright for the Wollongong Saints with a dedicated and motivated committee of volunteers and coaching staff. In 2021, we officially merged with The Figree Kangaroos creating a new and exciting pathway for women's footy in the Illawarra.

Figtree Australian Football Club is looking forward to taking on the South West Sydney Blues AFL in our preseason matches this weekend.

If you are stingin' for local footy to start, get on down to support the Roos from 12pm and the Figtree Saints from 10am at Kully Bay Oval. Hopefully its not as warm as last year!

Port Kembla AFC - The Blacks will have the canteen open for some cold drinks and food!

Tomorrow sees the start of the 2023 season for the Figtree Saints (formally Wollongong Saints) with a game against South West Sydney at Monarch Oval, with ball-up at 10.30am 💙🤍💗
Good luck to all our new and existing players for the year ahead!!!

The club has a senior Practice match vs South West Sydney this weekend and we have organised a bus to leave from Figtree Oval at 8:30am and arrive back at approx. 5:30pm.
We have a number of seats left for any supporters or family that wish to come along. Approximate cost will be about $20-$25pp depending on numbers, the more we get the cheaper it will be.
