Sad news for Southern Downs MTB club.
I’m really thankful we have members willing to step up and to the work to support the club.
It’s important to the future as well as the now that we do our bit, sometimes it feels like climbing a mountain but it all happens one pedal stroke at a time and we are in it together.
Southern Downs Mountain Bike Club would like to update members and the wider community following our recent AGM, where a new committee could not be elected.
At present, the club remains under a caretaker committee while a path forward is considered. Without new committee members and volunteer support, the future of the club is uncertain.
This could result in closure of the club, loss of access to the Mt Marlay trail network, removal of trail infrastructure and signage, and difficulties securing approvals or access for future trail development.
The Mt Marlay trails exist because of years of volunteer work and community support. If you would like to help ensure the future of mountain biking in the Southern Downs, we encourage you to get involved and contact the club.
Without sufficient community support, the club will need to consider its future viability and what that may mean for the trails and access currently in place.
Thank you to everyone who has supported the club over the years.
