Whether you’ve played for years, haven’t picked up a bat in a decade, or you’re looking for a club for your kids, we’d love to have a chat.

Following our recent AGM, we'd like to officially welcome our newly elected committee as we look forward to another exciting season at the Footballers.

Firstly, we would like to thank our outgoing President, Nicholas Bogar, for the countless hours, dedication, and leadership. Your commitment to the club has helped shape where we are today, and we are incredibly grateful for everything you've done.

We would also like to thank all outgoing committee members and volunteers who have generously given their time and energy behind the scenes. Community clubs thrive because of people like you, and your contributions are greatly appreciated.

As we turn the page to a new chapter, we're excited to welcome our incoming committee members. We look forward to building on the strong foundations already in place and continuing to grow our club both on and off the field.

On Friday night at our Presentation Night, we had the privilege of welcoming Peter Castledine as the club's 52nd Life Member.

For more than 20 years, Peter has dedicated himself to our club, making an impact both on and off the field through his passion, leadership and commitment.

Peter has been one of the driving forces behind our club for many years. Whether leading teams, mentoring players, helping attract new members, serving on committees or simply being one of the great club characters around the rooms, he has always put the club first.

And if you've ever attended a club function, always happy to talk to anyone and he is always the last person to leave. His commitment to the club extends well beyond match day, helping create the social culture and mateship that makes our club such a special place to be.

What makes his contribution even more remarkable is that he is still performing on the field. This season, representing our Third XI, Peter won both the Batting Award and Bowling Award for the grade, proving his dedication to the club remains as strong as ever.

The Life Membership presentation was delivered by fellow Life Member Joe Stroud, who spoke passionately about Peter's outstanding contribution and the lasting impact he has had on generations of players and members.

Life Membership is the highest honour our club can bestow, reserved for those whose service and commitment have left a lasting legacy. Peter is a worthy recipient and joins an esteemed group of club legends as Life Member #52.

Congratulations Peter, and thank you for everything you have given our club over the past two decades. Your passion for the Orange and Black is unmatched and we look forward to seeing your impact continue for many years to come.

****** SENIOR MENS COACHING ANNOUNCEMENT ******

FTG Footballers are excited to officially welcome back Lyle D’Rozario as our Senior Men’s Head Coach for the 2026/27 season and beyond.

Lyle brings a wealth of experience both on and off the field. A proven leader, he has previously captained Kingston Hawthorn 2nd XI at Premier level and has played extensively in Premier 1st XI level at Kingston Hawthorn. Many at the club will also remember Lyle from his time with the Footballers in 2020/21, where he made a strong impact both as a player and clubman.

A teacher by profession, Lyle’s leadership, communication, and passion for development make him an outstanding fit to guide our senior group forward. After stepping away from the game to focus on his young family, we’re thrilled to have him back involved and leading the club into an exciting new chapter.

Please join us in welcoming Lyle and his family back to the Ballers — we’re looking forward to a big season ahead under his guidance!

We’d like to take the opportunity to sincerely thank Peter Castledine and Tim Scott for their outstanding contribution to the men’s program over recent seasons.

Under their leadership the club has continued to grow both on and off the field, highlighted by another strong year with 3 of our 4 teams playing finals cricket. Their commitment, passion and countless hours of work have helped build a culture the entire club can be proud of.

Because of the work Cas and Tim have put into the program, the club is in a strong position moving forward, providing a fantastic platform for the next coach or coaching group to take the men’s program into the 2026/27 season. The club has already begun the process of searching for the right person to lead that next chapter.

While they are stepping away from coaching the men’s program, we’re extremely pleased that both Cas and Tim will remain important parts of the club. Cas will continue coaching our women’s team, and both will representing the orange and black as players for the 2026/27 season.

On behalf of everyone at the Ferntree Gully Footballers Cricket Club, thank you Cas and Tim for everything you’ve done and continue to do for the club. Your impact has been enormous and we’re grateful for the legacy you leave in the men’s program 🖤🧡

On International Women’s Day, this amazing group took the field chasing back to back Grand Final appearances against top of the ladder Knoxfield. Batting first on a slow Scoresby surface, we put together a pretty competitive total of 8/105 off 25 overs. Some good little contributions along the way from everyone, but Abbey Broughan led the way with a run a ball 49no, a brilliant innings.

In reply, the Knights put the foot down from Ball 1 and did what they’ve been doing all year, dominating with the bat. Every so often you come across an individual who’s playing at another level to the rest of us, and we saw that with Knoxfields captain Hannah Innes who sent the ball to all parts of the ground. We threw the ball around, fielded really well but just couldn’t break the partnership, and with that our summer came to an end.

A huge effort from Cass & Tam and the entire group to stick together, especially pre-Xmas with so many games washed out. To back up last years flag with another finals appearance was fantastic, and while the girls are disappointed that they couldn’t get through to the decider, there’s also an enormous sense of pride from within the team that they again played finals, and they seem hungry to improve further and be back next summer to have another crack at it !!

Congrats ladies, super performance, we are very proud of you all !
