As the Gawler Giants prepare to celebrate nearly 40 years of softball excellence, our club stands at a pivotal moment. Throughout our rich history, we’ve celebrated talented players and achieved great success across various divisions.
However, recent years have presented challenges that threaten our future. The decline of the junior competition in Gawler has led to many young players moving to CDSA and Adelaide competitions. Additionally, a decrease in senior players and grading concerns have resulted in only a junior team this season. These issues put the club’s future at risk, but together, we can shape a positive path forward.
We invite past, present, and life members to join us for an important meeting on May 8th. This is a vital opportunity to discuss our options and collaboratively decide how we can ensure the Giants continue to grow and thrive. Your input is essential—our future depends on it.
Some options on the table include:
a) Our juniors play at CDSA, while seniors remain at Gawler
b) Both juniors and seniors stay at Gawler
c) The entire club moves to CDSA
d) The club folds (which we all hope to avoid)
Options a, b, and c will require renewed support and members returning to the club.
Our current Board has been actively working on recruitment strategies, but we need your ideas and commitment to help us move forward. Nobody wants to see option d) become a reality. Last season was tough for many reasons, but together, we can turn things around.
This meeting is your chance to share your thoughts, ask questions, and help us decide the best way forward.
Please mark your calendar for Friday May 8 th at Karbeethan Reserve. Your presence and voice are crucial to securing a bright future for the Gawler Giants.
