Big bad Burt is back 👊

Following the announcement that Lochie Dornauf will continue with the Eagles as a player in 2027, we're pleased to confirm that Zach Burt has also signed on for next season.

Since joining the club in 2025, Burta has been an invaluable addition to the Eagles. His experience, leadership and versatility have made a significant impact both on and off the field, and he has played an important role in the growth of our playing group over the past two seasons.

We are thrilled to have Zach continue his journey with the club and look forward to seeing him back in Eagles colours in 2027.

COACH STAGG SIGNS FOR ‘27 & ‘28

Exceptional news for the Eagles club that experienced coach Mitch Stagg has signed as our senior coach for the next two years. Mitch’s methodical, professional and communicative coaching style was a clear sign he will bring a new lens to our club.

The surname will be familiar to the old guard as well as the new, with Mitch playing for Evandale from 2015-2018 as one of our father son duos, with his father Anthony Stagg a life member of the EFC.

We are really thrilled to entrust Mitch with guiding us through our next chapter, with his deep understanding of our community and coaching experience invaluable.

🟡 Playing career spanning South Launceston, Longford, Fingal Valley and Evandale Football Clubs.
🔵 Born and raised in Evandale, with strong ties to both the club and local community.
🟡 Member of Evandale's 2018 Senior Grand Final side.
🔵 Joined Longford Football Club's coaching group in 2019.
🟡 Served as Senior Bench Coach from 2019 to 2022.
playing an important role in Longford's drought breaking 2022 Premiership .
🔵 Appointed Head Coach in 2023 and 2024.
🟡 Led Longford to a further Grand Final appearance in 2024.

Following the conclusion of our 2026 senior’s season, we'd like to sincerely thank Lochie Dornauf for his contribution and commitment over the past two seasons as Senior Coach.

Since joining the Eagles ahead of the 2025 season, Lochie has played an important role in shaping our club both on and off the field. In his first year at the helm, he led the Senior Men back to finals football, while also helping build a strong foundation for the future.

One of Lochie's greatest strengths has been his ability to build genuine relationships and connect people. Through those connections, he has helped bring quality players and quality people to our club, strengthening not only our playing group but our wider football community.
The friendships, support networks and positive culture that continue to grow around the club are a reflection of the relationships Lochie has fostered during his time as coach.

While his coaching tenure has come to an end, we're pleased this isn't farewell. We're thrilled to announce that Lochie has committed to the Eagles for 2027 and will continue with the club as a player next season.
On behalf of our players, committee, volunteers, members and supporters, thank you Lochie for your time, dedication and contribution to the club. We look forward to seeing you back in Eagles colours next year.
