WHAT A DAY!
The Eugowra Harness Racing Club committee extends its heartfelt gratitude to everyone who contributed to making this year's Canola Cup Carnival an absolutely spectacular success! What a day it was, filled with great racing, thrilling action, vibrant community spirit, and unforgettable moments. Our deepest thanks go to our incredibly generous sponsors, whose support is invaluable, and to our tireless volunteers who dedicated countless hours to the lead-up, ex*****on, and cleanup, ensuring everything ran smoothly. Peter Jones deserves special recognition for his amazing time and effort, transforming the track and grounds into a pristine spectacle. We celebrate all the trainers and drivers, offering a massive congratulations to our race winners, and of course, thank the fantastic crowd whose enthusiastic presence truly made the event. A shout out to upcoming young star Ella Turnbull who clinched a significant milestone by recording her first career winning drive on Kadar, Im sure this win will be the first of many.
The day was further enriched by a host of dedicated individuals. A big thankyou to Kim Berningham for all her behind the scenes work, i truely appreciated what you have done. What a truly monumental effort is required by our setup and pack-up crews! People simply do not realize the sheer volume of intense physical labor that happens entirely behind the scenes to bring our annual picnic day to life. This isn’t a task of light decorating; it's a non-stop sequence of heavy lifting and logistical coordination, beginning days before the first patron arrives.
Congratulations to all our Fashions on the Field winners, and a huge thank you to Tammie Greenhalgh for her excellent MCing, along with our distinguished judges Lisa Shambrook, Sarah Hodge, and Bianca O'Connor. Keira Idiens in organizing the vibrant markets & assisting with setup, Jemma Howell was instrumental in delivering an amazing job on the trophy presentations along with also behind the scenes setup. Michael Dumesny's stellar MCing of the Trackside presentations on both Sunday and Monday, as always, was outstanding. Cath Welsh and Hushy kept spirits high with their amazing entertainment, ensuring everyone had a ball dancing the afternoon away. Our appreciation also goes to Grahame Dowling and Justine Jones for providing their time and vehicles for victory laps, and Mark Bray for his time and use of his truck for the music. The efficiency and dedication of our amazing bar staff (Paul Toohey, Jason Greenhalgh, Kim Mongan, Ben Greenhalgh & Lisa Wren), alongside our track staff — Pete Jones, Jeff Howell, Bob Myers, and Lewis Cini — did not go unnoticed. To all the marquee crew including Ray for cooking up a storm! Finally, to the Riverina Mini Trotting Club for organizing the delightful mini trots and to all the participating kids – you brought so much joy and talent to the day.
This event is truly about the community, and we are profoundly grateful for the overwhelming support from every single person who helped out. Thank you, for an unforgettable experience. We eagerly look forward to seeing everyone again in 2026!
