Today Te Ika Nui had an open fun day with BBQ. We had a perfect winter's day with some small swell to play on. Thanks so much everyone from Central Coast Outriggers , Newcastle Outrigger Canoe Club , Bluefins Dragon Boat and Outrigger Canoeing Club , Northern Beaches, Swansea Outrigger Canoe Club . We hope to do this regularly. X. Enjoy.

This public holiday Monday 8th June, Te Ika Nui has some limited seats available for experienced paddlers to come join us for a runners session in one of our OC6. We will have a BBQ after, BYO plate . Conditions should be great - lights winds , small swell, incoming tide. We'll plan to paddle 9-11.30 then have lunch on the beach. Guests are encouraged to bring their own OC1/2 s as well. Please DM or comment for further information.

A couple of weeks back, Te Ika Nui had some friends visit from Sydney (Bluefins Dragon Boat and Outrigger Canoeing Club), Swansea (Swansea Outrigger Canoe Club) and Newcastle (Newcastle Outrigger Canoe Club). We’d been getting a bit of interest from our social media posts and decided to be nice and share our playground. 😉 I am only just learning to film when flying (previously focused just on photography) so I didn’t even download this in a hurry because I figured it would be average. Luckily, it comes together ok. The scenery makes up for the lack of skill. Thank you to everyone that came, there were smiles all around. And if anyone knows the speed boat guys, tell them we got some footage from above!! 🤗

Footage of our women's short course huli, taken from the Port Stephens canoe. Lessons learnt . Muscle nation was coming across on our left and unfortunately their bow hooked under the front section of our ama. Next time as steerer I'll need better situational awareness. I needed to poke right and try protect our ama in the swell. I added the saddest music ..😬

For one of the smaller clubs with our well loved heavy canoes this was an outstanding result! Everyone loves our Southern Spirit !😍
