My name is Kristen, & I have been playing sport since I started walking. I played soccer for 20 years, and represented at a professional level as a player, then coaching & mentoring female Australian teams at international tournaments . I've also have a longstanding history in athletics - both short and long distance running and long jump to be exact. For fun I love playing netball, basketball & k

ick boxing. With this type of background, it's safe to say that I have a passion for fitness, sports, as well as a keen interest in the human body and developed a solid understanding of the importance having a healthy lifestyle has on your short and long term physical and mental health. I studied Health Science at the the University of Sydney, where I developed not only a background in Medical Science, but found that I was also passionate about Health promotion. I have a diploma in Nutrition, Business as well as My certificate 3 & 4 in Fitness. Helping others create a healthy lifestyle has always been something that I enjoy, and I take great pride in providing a great service to women across Sydney. There is an assumption that only the wealthy or that only the fittest people have a personal trainer. This is not the case! Many women I have spoken to find going to the gym or training in mixed groups intimidating, I know I did when I first started training after I moved to Sydney. I wanted to create an environment where women feel comfortable to come to, and to provide an atmosphere that was both friendly and supportive. I wanted to be able to combine my passion for health promotion, fitness, and helping others, and that is how She Fit Sydney was born! She Fit Sydney caters for all ages, all fitness levels. We take one on one training sessions, as well as provide group training. We run public bootcamps, or why not grab a few friends and book a spot and get fit while having a catch up? My favorite quote - Especially when working with clients who have full time jobs, children, responsibilities coming out of their ears. Especially as mothers, we tend to neglect ourselves when it comes to both mental and physical health - because we GIVE, GIVE, and GIVE some more.
You cannot help anyone, if you self destruct.
Self care is not whacking on a face mask while running the kids bath and doing their teeth. Self care is:
- taking some time off for yourself
- making sure you attend to your health
- seeking councelling if you need someone to talk to (this can even just be a phone call to a support line)
- prioritize things that make you HAPPY

Life shouldn’t stop just because you have a family and commitments. I understand how hard it can be, but when I am happy, I am a better Mum, a better employee, a better wife, a better friend. When I look after myself, I can do an even better job caring for those around me.

It was a really special moment to have my 2 kids and husband there to cheer me on. I want my daughters to grow up knowing that as women they can still achieve whatever they want after having kids. In fact, I hope one day they know they are my ’why’ ❤️

Have you decided what your 2022 goals are yet?

Have you got one big goal - like running a marathon - in mind? If so, you must set a series of small attainable goals which will help you reach your big goal!

You don’t always need to set a big challenge for yourself to make, see and feel big changes in the new year. Some great small (and attainable goals) could be to meal prep 5 days a week, to move your body for 30 minutes a day, you work out 3-4 times a week, or to schedule some weekly time to yourself each week (particularly valuable if you are a parent!).

Small steps lead to big changes. One thing the current pandemic has highlighted is the importance of both physical and mental health. Don’t forget to prioritize yours in the coming year 🤍
