π OPENS STATE TITLES 2026 π
Sometimes the results on paper don't tell the full story.
Over three demanding days of Senior State Titles & having lost a player two days before we hit the courts at all.
Our Opens team was tested in every possible way. They faced some of the strongest teams in the competition, battled fatigue, managed injuries, overcame mental hurdles, and still continued to show up for one another every time they stepped onto the court.
Day 1 presented one of the toughest draws of the tournament, with our team coming up against many of the competition's eventual top-performing sides. The challenge was as much mental as it was physical. Finishing the day with 2 wins and 5 losses was disappointing, but rather than dwell on the results, the team chose to reset, regroup and return the next day with renewed determination and belief.
Day 2 saw the team lift their energy and reconnect with their purpose. Their resilience shone through as they competed fiercely across six matches, finishing the day with 2 wins, 1 draw and 3 losses. More importantly, they rediscovered their confidence and momentum.
Day 3 was all about heart. With tired bodies but unwavering determination, the team gave everything they had left in the tank. They finished with 3 wins and 2 narrow losses against higher-ranked opponents, proving just how much they had grown throughout the tournament.
π Final Placing: 12th
While the final standings may not fully reflect the journey, those who watched this team know exactly how competitive they were. Many of their matches were decided by the smallest of margins, with moments that could have easily swung either way. A turnover here, a goal there, and the story may have looked very different.
But what truly defined this team wasn't a ladder position.
It was their resilience.
It was their willingness to keep fighting when things got tough.
It was the way they supported each other, lifted each other up and continued to wear the Mt Druitt colours with pride.
The growth shown across the weekend was remarkable. Every challenge became an opportunity to learn, every setback became a chance to respond, and every game helped build something stronger for the future.
To our Opens team β thank you.
Thank you for your commitment, your energy, your laughter, your sacrifices and the way you represented Mt Druitt Netball Association. Your effort never wavered, your belief in one another never disappeared, and your team-first mentality was evident from the first whistle to the last.
This weekend wasn't just about results. It was about building something special.
As the saying goes, a house is not built in a day. It begins with a strong foundation and is built brick by brick over time. This team has laid some very important bricks this season, and the future is incredibly exciting.
Hold your heads high. Be proud of what you achieved, proud of how you competed, and proud of the character you displayed throughout the tournament.
The wins and losses won't define this group.
Your resilience, unity, courage and spirit will.
Big thanks & appreciation to our coaching staff, spectators, parents, families & our umpires.
β€οΈ We are incredibly proud of you all and can't wait to see what comes next.
