Dear Morley Windmills Members,
Many of you will have seen the recent announcement regarding the proposed redevelopment of Wotton Reserve, which includes plans for a new integrated sporting precinct and the potential establishment of a new home for Perth Glory's A-League Women squad and academy.
As the incorporated body responsible for the leased clubhouse, bar and function facilities at Wotton Reserve, we understand this announcement may raise questions about what it means for our members and the future of our club.
First and foremost, we want to reassure everyone that this announcement represents the formal commencement of discussions regarding the long-term future of Wotton Reserve. No decisions affecting the Morley Windmills Sports Club have been made, and there are no immediate changes to our operations or facilities.
For more than five decades, our clubhouse has been the heart of the Windmills community. It is far more than a building - it is a place where lifelong friendships have been formed, volunteers have dedicated countless hours, families have celebrated milestones, and generations of players and supporters have come together to enjoy the unique spirit of our club.
The Morley Windmills Sports Club remains firmly committed to ensuring that Windmills continues to call Wotton Reserve home for many years to come.
We have already begun engaging with the City of Bayswater, Perth Glory, Pelligra Group and other key stakeholders as discussions commence. Our focus throughout this process will be to protect the interests of our members and preserve the strong community club that has served the local area for generations.
As discussions progress, we will be advocating for outcomes that:
🟧️ Secure the long-term future of Morley Windmills at Wotton Reserve.
🟧 Protect and enhance our clubhouse, bar and function facilities as a central hub for our members and the wider community.
🟧 Ensure any future development strengthens community sport and creates opportunities for all users of the precinct.
🟧 Deliver modern, sustainable facilities that support the continued growth of both the Sports Club and the Soccer Club.
We see this as the beginning of a collaborative conversation rather than a concluded plan. There is significant work ahead, and we are committed to working constructively with all parties to achieve an outcome that respects the proud history of Windmills while embracing opportunities for the future.
Our members will continue to be kept informed as discussions evolve and more information becomes available. In the meantime, we encourage everyone to remain positive and continue supporting our players, volunteers, social members and the many community activities that make our club such a special place.
Thank you for your ongoing support and commitment to the Morley Windmills. Together, we will ensure that Windmills remains a thriving part of Wotton Reserve for generations to come.
Yours sincerely,
John Castrilli
