“Hockey is life, life is hockey” – The Razorbacks

Playing out of our home venue at Elwood Ho

ckey Ground, the Melbourne Razorbacks Hockey Club participate in the Hockey Victoria winter home and away competition. Our purpose is to promote and encourage the growth and enjoyment of the sport of hockey for all genders, beliefs and abilities. We have been slowly building up a reputation for being a small, friendly and supportive Hockey Club. Outside of the regular season we also participate in both the summer and indoor competitions coordinated by Hockey Victoria. This means that we welcome to all genders, beliefs and abilities. We actively support the Victorian Government’s ‘Fair Play Code‘ as well as ‘Stand Out Cup’, 'Indigenous Round', ‘Women & Girls’ and 'Men's Health' rounds with Hockey Victoria and have a trained Member Protection Information Officer available at our club. Our senior teams train and play at Elwood College and out Masters Women play at Hawthorn Malvern Hockey Ground. Since our inception, we have steadily grown in numbers with a current membership base of approximately 90 players. We are fielding the following teams for the 2025 Winter Season:

- Men’s Vic League 3
- Women's Vic League 3
- Women’s Metro 1
- Men’s Metro 2
- Women’s Masters 45+

A mixed bag this weekend.

A win for Metro with the McNess triple. McNess #1 (Razorbacks), McNess #2 (Umpire), McNess #3 (Southern).

A tough fought game for the Vic League Men with beautiful goals flying for both teams. One being a potential goal of the year from Fergal Roche.

MHSOB showed why they are top of the table with a clinic for the Vic League Women. The ladies fought valiantly with some great passages of play but High School was just too strong.

Little Snorter has chosen Gordon Meredith to be the Melbourne Razorbacks Hockey Club club member of the week.

Godro is consistently known for his explosive and dynamic play, leaving nothing on the field either at training or on game day

At last week’s home day, Gordo showed on field leadership not only during the challenging VL3 match against Old Trinity, but he enthusiastically backed up immediately to join the Metro team for a close run nil all draw against St Bedes

Iron man Razorback spirit 🐗🐗🐗

Can’t wait to see if Little Snorter can keep up with Gordo’s lighting pace this week

Round 8 sees only 3 teams playing this weekend.

The Women's Metro team get a well-earned rest whilst the others fight it out over some tough competition in a suite of away games.

Both Vic Leagues matches should be great to watch with the women out for blood with their last game against Melbourne High School Old Boys Hockey Club being cancelled at half time due to poor light (the score stood at 3-2 down).

The Men's Vic League take on Melbourne Sikhs United who are always a tough and skillful opponent.

Whilst the Men's Metro should have a challenging game against Southern United Hockey Club.
