💜 THE DANCE DAD 💜
Up at 5am on a weekend,
It’s that time of year again…..
Another dance competition, or weekend rehearsal, photo day or Concert weekend.
He’s packed the car with costumes,
Shoes, bags and hairspray too,
And wonders why one tiny dancer
Needs 5 bags to get through!
He’s parked so far away,
Paid $20 just to enter, $100 for food
then sat in a freezing venue watching way to many random routine’s until it’s nearly dark!
He knows a plié and tendu,
A jeté and a fouetté,
But still calls everything
“That spinny jump thing!”
He’s survived the hairspray cloud,
The sparkles and the tears,
who has filmed every single dance, taken many photos with way too many poses!
He’s carried dance bags,
And heard “Dad, I NEED this….. please?
More times than he can choose.
So here’s to all our Dance Dads —
The chauffeurs, snack suppliers and forever bank man….. tap tap tap!
For all the drop offs and pick up to The Edge studios, paying all the fees and watching me practice at home in front of the TV.
Thank you for every early morning or late night, for every competition, rehearsal and performance.
