We are now up to day 26 of our trip and are continuing to see the most amazingly beautiful countryside.
Waterton Lakes had the most picturesque Lakes and Mountains. And now we are at Glacier National Park and it too is so beautiful.
We have also seen two large bears on the side of the road in the past 2 days so we are very lucky.

The last couple of days we have done some moderately challenging uphill walks. The 1st walk was up the side of a mountain called Bears Hump. Although it was only a 2km walk it was all uphill climbing from start to finish. The stairs on the switchbacks were tough.
It was such a great quad workout!!
At the top was the most awesome view of the Township of Waterton and the beautiful Lake and Mountains. So worth the tough walk.

The 2nd walk was 4km and was a little easier but again all uphill walking. At the end of this walk was an amazing waterfall. So again it was so worth the uphill climb.

I am so pleased that my legs recovered well from these walks and this is due to regularly squatting in my workouts. So I hope that all of you are still including squats into your workouts while I am away.

We are 19 days into our trip and are having the best time. Yellowstone National Park didn’t disappoint. The scenery was magnificent and the wildlife amazing. We ended up having 11 different sightings of bears.
We have just spent 3 days in Grand Teton National Park. The mountains were beautiful!! The weather was freezing!🥶-3 one morning.

We have only had one meal out since picking the van up. The best thing we did was buy an air fryer. We are still eating healthily like we do at home and it’s so affordable and easy.

Dropped our 1st RV off today in Salt Lake City and flying to Calgary tomorrow to pick up another RV to do the 2nd leg of our trip.

It’s been 11 days since we flew out to start our trip. We have spent 5 of these days travelling with minimal opportunity to exercise. So in 6 days we have been able to exercise we averaged 21600 steps per day for a total of 130,000 steps.

Niagra Falls was so awesome to visit. And now we are in Yellowstone National Park. It is such a beautiful place. We have seen Bison, bears, moose, elk and a coyote and the most amazing countryside. So many Geysers and Grand Prismatic was the best.

Missing my beautiful clients and I hope that you are all keeping up with some exercise . 🏋️‍♂️🏃‍♀️

As I take a break from classes and PT to head overseas, use this time to practice self-motivation and maintain your own routine.

A strong mindset can make for a strong workout!

When you change the language you tell yourself to messaging like these statements in the photo, your brain can actually start to believe it as truth, and therefore you push further because that’s your reality.

Instead of “I really don’t want to be here today”, come to your session with “I’m here and giving it 110%.”

Instead of “it’s too cold and dark to do anything”, tell yourself “there’s nothing that can stop me from achieving my goals”.

Instead of “I feel too sluggish to do anything today”, repeat “the fitter I am, the better I’ll feel”.

Start listening to your inner voice and if the negative messaging is taking prime spot in your brain … it’s time to turn that around so that you can set yourself up for success.

Let's talk squats!
You squat every day. When you get off the couch, climb stairs, step out of the car, or use the toilet.

Squats help several sets of muscles and are one of the best exercises for increasing bone density. Other benefits of squats are that they:

• Strengthen lower body muscles
• Make your core stronger
• Can be done anywhere
• Are a great calorie burner

You can get more squats in your day easily at home anytime, anywhere, so there's no excuses!

Slowly bend your knees as if you are going to sit down. Your chin should be level, eyes looking directly ahead, spine lifted and shoulders slightly back. Make sure to keep your knees from bending forward past your toes as you squat and don’t round your back.

Wherever you are right now, whatever time it is, if you have a moment to look at Facebook, then you have a moment to squat! Go on.... I challenge you to do 12 squats now....

I love helping women at all stages of their fitness journey.

If you're a beginner or getting back into exercise after a long break, remember to follow these important dos and donts.

DO:
✅ Take the time to warm up properly
✅ Keep hydrated before, after and during your work out
✅ Perfect your form before increasing weight or reps
✅ Mix it up with strength training, balance and cardio exercises

DON'T:
❌ Push through pain or fatigue
❌ Over do it - you'll risk burning out and increase the chance of injury
❌ Start with long or strenous workouts
❌ Forget to cool down

As we get older, our body begins to lose muscle mass and bone strength, especially during the perimenopausal stage.

Enter... PROTEIN!

Protein is an essential macronutrient that builds muscle, repairs tissues, makes hormones, and provides your body with energy. You need protein to function as it plays a part in every cell of your body.

Protein is made up of amino acids, some in which your body already makes – these are called non-essential amino acids. There are other amino acids your body cannot produce – called essential amino acids - which you need to make up for in your diet.

Essential amino acids can be found in animal products such as chicken, beef, and fish as well as plant proteins such as beans, nuts, and lentils. Soy products, eggs and dairy can also provide amino acids.

Did you know that the average healthy adult woman over 50 requires 1.2 to 1.6 grams of protein per kg of body weight per day? Are you getting enough protein in your diet?

I hear negative body talk a lot in my gym.

How about we start to change the conversation? Positive talk has been proven to influence positive action.
