🏌️‍♂️FNQ Women’s Interclub @ El Arish Country Club🏌️‍♂️

Yesterday, El Arish Country Club was proud to host a round of FNQ Women’s Interclub for the very first time. 👏

It was a great opportunity for the club to welcome women golfers from across the region and give them the chance to enjoy our little club, our course, the odd passing shower, and the subtle challenges El Arish has on offer.

A sincere thank you to EACC Treasurer Kelly Cavallaro and KLP Taxation for supporting both the club and the event through sponsorship on the day.

We also greatly appreciate the positive comments and kind words received from our visitors about the club, our members, volunteers and course.

For those who visited and may not be aware, the Teitzel's IGA 2026 El Arish Country Club Open will be played on Saturday 25 and Sunday 26 July.

We would gladly welcome you and your playing partners back to enjoy a weekend of golf, good company and the hospitality of the Cassowary Coast.

⛳ 2026 Members Championships Opening Weekend Wrap ⛳

Despite Mother Nature’s best efforts, the opening weekend of the Championships saw the course in great condition.

🌿 With the greens continuing to provide first-class putting surfaces thanks to Graham, Matty and the Club’s volunteers, a special tip of the hat also goes to both Matty and Ben Rosenthal for cutting and rolling the greens both days. For those who played well, maybe buy them a beer.

🏌️‍♀️ Starting with the Ladies, in B Grade, Kelly Cavallaro opened with a nice round of 86. And while Sunday’s round was not quite the same, she still leads Fran Lomas, with Joyce Daley sitting in third heading into the final two rounds.

In the Ladies A Grade, Lisa Spiegler provided Tracy Dickenson with a strong challenge on Saturday, finishing just two shots behind. Unfortunately, Lisa has found some Sunday misfortune and with Tracy staying consistent both days, finished with a handy lead over Lisa with Marie Pavan in third.

🏌️‍♂️ In the Men’s C Grade, Chris Calleja opened with a solid 74. However, like Lisa, suffered some Sunday misfortune, leaving him leading by three-shots on 156. Steve Shelley playing 'Mr Consistent' golf across the weekend is second, with Aiden Mason third on 160.

In Men's B Grade, it's a battle royale between the Club President and Club Captain, with bragging rights going first to President Troy Kopp, finishing with a two-shot lead over Gavin Camilleri. While both may be the obvious favourites for 2026, not far behind is Southern Districts Pennant Team’s secret B Grade weapon, Ben Groves and Ben Rosenthal, who possibly spends more time mowing and rolling greens than putting on them.

The Men’s A Grade opening round saw scoring below their usual quality, with one shot between all three players. Rhys Camilleri opened with 71 leading Hayden Harding and Jake Perkins, who both signed for 72.

🔥 Sunday's second round scoring saw all 3 players improve, Rhys and Hayden bettered Saturday's score by two and three shots respectively, but it was Jake Perkins’ score that was the talk of the club.

Rumoured to have received a Melbourne Storm Craig Bellamy-style motivational talk after Saturday's game, Jake's second round produced an outstanding 61 off the stick (an 11-shot turnaround) that, if not for preferred lies, would have claimed the course record. It did, however, give him a commanding lead over Rhys and Hayden heading into this weekend.

🏆 With two rounds done, there is still across all grades plenty to play for in the final two rounds, and more than enough golf left for the leaderboard to change again.

A big couple of weekends coming up at El Arish Country Club, with the 2026 Club Championships getting underway.

🏌️ Four rounds of Single Stroke
🏆 Trophy events each round
👨‍🦱👩 Men’s and Ladies competitions
🔥 Player of the Year points on offer
📅 Saturday 13 June, Sunday 14 June, Saturday 20 June and Sunday 21 June

Please note, this weekend’s Club Championship rounds are members only.

There will be no social golf available, with the course closed to social play on both days this coming weekend.

⛳ El Arish Country Club 2026 Junior Open ⛳

Nominations are now open for the 2026 El Arish Country Club Junior Open, being played on Saturday 18 July and Sunday 19 July.

El Arish Country Club looks forward to welcoming junior golfers, their families and supporters to our course and “The Friendliest Little Golf Club in the North” for an enjoyable weekend over the two days.

Divisions include:

- 18 Hole Juniors
- 13 Hole Juniors
- 9 Hole Juniors
- 9 Hole Modified Juniors
- 6 Hole Modified Juniors

Competition fees for both days:

- GA 18 Hole Juniors $50
- 13 Hole Juniors $44
- 9 Hole Juniors $40
- 9 Hole Modified Juniors $30
- 6 Hole Modified Juniors $30

Payment is on the day, with EFTPOS and cash accepted.

Prizes will be awarded across all divisions, including
- Gross Winner and Runner Up,
- Nett Winner and Runner Up and
- NTP and Long Drive.

The event is also an FNQ Junior Golf Order of Merit event and a TeeMates Greg Norman Junior Masters Qualifier for eligible 18 Hole Junior Golfers who are financial members of TeeMates.

⛳💍 Wedding Celebration at El Arish Country Club Inc 💍⛳

On Saturday 30 May 2026, El Arish Country Club was lucky enough to be part of Amanda and Brendan’s wedding celebration.

On behalf of the Club, we would like to congratulate you both and wish you all the very best for your future together.

It was great to see the Club and grounds full of family, friends, laughter, photos and plenty of happy moments throughout the afternoon.

A big thank you to Amanda and Brendan for choosing El Arish Country Club as part of your wedding day. We were proud to help host you and your guests for such a special occasion.

Thanks also to everyone who helped behind the scenes to have the Club looking ready for the day.

It was a lovely reminder that our little country club is more than just a golf course. It is also a place for community, family and moments like this.

Jake Perkins,… word around the traps is that as the reigning Cooktown Golf Club Open Champion, you might be making the trip back to defend the title and something about El Arish Country Club Inc being the home of the champions........

We also heard a whisper that you’re keen to make sure some bloke called Brent keeps his long standing title as the bridesmaid, catches the bouquet for another year, and remains safely winless when it comes to lifting the Cooktown Open trophy. 😉
