Tagon Solian Travel Adventures aims to empower our community by enhancing their skills and optimizing their limited resources. Our main focus is on utilizing tourism as a means of generating income, especially given the increasing number of tourists and yachts exploring the stunning Western islands of Manus, including Hermit, Ninigo, Aua, and Wuvulu.
However, we face a significant challenge due to the lack of reliable transportation, which hinders our ability to provide seamless travel experiences for our visitors.
Nevertheless, we are committed to overcoming this obstacle and ensuring that our community can benefit from the thriving tourism industry.
Our efforts are geared towards uplifting the community, providing them with opportunities to monetize their resources and improve their livelihoods. With counterparts from Fiji and esteemed family representatives like Mr. Steven Tabuhakia and his partner Seruwaia Ucece, the fourth batch of participants in Tagon Solian Travel Adventures' Scuba Dive Program had the privilege of their company.
Together, they gathered to exchange valuable insights on tourism experiences in Fiji, aiming to maximize the income potential within the isolated islands of Papua New Guinea.
A big thank you to Pro-Dive PNG, a dive shop based here in Port Moresby run by John Miller and his hardworking team. With their help and support, all Padi Dive Course Participants sponsored by Tagon Solian Travel Adventures completed their one week Open Water Dive Course.
Tagon Solian Travel Adventures will be looking into further upskilling selected divers to do other courses like;

2. Marine Resource Management Course
3. Artificial Intelligent (AI) Technology course – New925 Academy
With these courses, Tagon Solian Travel Adventures believes that tourism will flourish within the Western Group of Islands in Manus Province, Papua New Guinea. The picturesque western group of islands has attracted tourist boats, thanks to its pristine beaches and breathtaking landscapes.
However, a primary concern revolves around the lack of proper documentation for these boats. Many operators are found to be operating without the necessary permits and licenses, jeopardizing the safety of both tourists and the environment. This lack of oversight makes it difficult to ensure that these boats meet required safety standards, putting passengers at risk. Moreover, the influx of tourist boats without proper documentation poses a significant threat to the environment. These boats often disregard regulations regarding waste disposal, leading to pollution of the surrounding waters.
Additionally, unregulated anchoring and activities near sensitive marine ecosystems can cause irreversible damage to coral reefs and marine life. Addressing this issue requires a comprehensive approach involving stricter regulations, increased monitoring, and enhanced cooperation between relevant authorities. Tagon Solian Travel Adventures aims to work alongside these authorities to:
1. Increase the presence of maritime authorities to monitor tourist boat activities in the western group of islands
2. Conduct regular spot checks and inspections to verify documentation and ensure safety compliance
3. Collaborate with local communities and stakeholders to report any suspicious or illegal activities
4. Educate tourists about the importance of patronizing licensed and regulated tourist boats
5. Encourage tourists to report any instances of non-compliance or unsafe practices
6. Raise awareness about the environmental impact of irresponsible tourist boat operations, including improper waste disposal, dumping waste directly into the ocean, and irresponsible disposal of hazardous materials
7. Mitigate damage to marine ecosystems by addressing issues such as anchoring in sensitive areas and disturbing coral reefs and marine habitats.
In conclusion, the presence of tourist boats in the western group of islands without proper documentation poses significant risks to both safety and the environment. It is crucial for relevant authorities to take immediate action and collaborate with Tagon Solian Travel Adventures to strengthen regulations, enhance monitoring efforts, and promote public awareness. Only through these collective actions can we ensure a safe and sustainable tourism experience for both visitors and the natural beauty of the western group of islands
