RECORD NUMBERS FOR 2026 AUTUMN COMPETITION- This years 2026 Autumn competition started off with a bang at the Eglinton Complex with 24 players giving their all, indicating that the 2026 Autumn competition is going to turn heads. Match conveynor Iron Lady Allyson Schumacher believes all five sides are very evenly matched this time around with each side capable of taking that coveted grand final cup. "Its quite amazing how each competition we play at the Eglinton Complex just seems to get bigger and bigger, and it shows this year with a record number of 30 players participating." Schumacher said. The first round was a cracker, with electrifying tennis from all the 24 players on display. The first match was full of chamagne tennis as Team Williams captained by Slugger Bullock caused a boilover against Team Bradman captained by Chris Seigert storming home to win 10 sets 8, 88 games to 86. Team Williams side of Curtis James Booth, Slugger Bullock, Luke Booth, Harry Dang, Sam Hunter and Andrew Howarth proved that are the team to beat with a very impressive victory over Team Bradmans side of Ben Moulds, Jake Robinson, Jason Honeyman, Chris Seigert, James Nau and Joe Camelleri. Captain of Team Williams Slugger Bullock was impressed at his sides gutsy win. "We dug deep when the pressure tennis was applied and played the big points well. We have good depth in our side which will work in our favour come finals time." Bullock said. New kid on the block and Eglintons young gun Sam Hunter playing in his first competition at the Eglinton Complex showed plenty of promise in his first match winning an all important set 6-2 and showing that he will be the dark horse player to unsettle tall poppy players in his future matches. Dang, Howarth and the Booth brothers all played with plenty of passion showing that their best tennis is yet to come. Veteran campagainer Slugger Bullock didn't have the best day with the racket but won an all important set with Garth Hindmarch against the Raveneau/Robinson duo 6-5 in a tie-breaker. The second match saw Team Freeman of Brook Lynch, Percy Raveneau, Stewart Robinson, Markus Matiszik, Eamon Robinson and Peter Smith defeat Team Bolt of Jason Molkentin, Garth Hindmarch, Leo Meares, Toby Harrison, Judy Smith, Frank Buckley and Graeme Stapleton 11 sets to 7, 88 games to 75. The star player in this match was no doubt Eglintons young gun player Eamon Robinson, as he was the only player of all the twelve players to take to the court to win all of his four sets 6-1, 6-2, 6-2, 6-4. This was a polished display of tennis from the young gun, who will be a real force to be recond with come finals time. Matiszik and Robinson also showed that they are no slouches as they played some very smart tennis to captivate the crowd. Both players will be dangerous and the players to watch out for come finals time.
