Edithburgh RSL & Bowling Club – 2025/2026 Trophy Awards Night

What a fantastic evening was enjoyed by all at the Edithburgh RSL & Bowling Club on Saturday, 11 April 2026, as more than 50 members gathered to celebrate the 2025/2026 bowls season.
The night was a wonderful opportunity to acknowledge, congratulate, and celebrate the achievements of players across the interclub tournament season.

A special highlight of the evening was the recognition of Micheal Davies, who reached an incredible milestone as a five-time Men’s Championship Singles winner. The club also gave Micheal a heartfelt farewell, with a fitting tribute presented by Peter Bartram in honour of his outstanding contribution and history with the club.

The evening was jointly hosted by past president Stan Szczypiorski and current president Ron Baker, who guided proceedings and helped create a warm and celebratory atmosphere.

Congratulations were extended to all players who competed in State Events, Region 2, and Prestige competitions.
Award Winners:
• Mixed Pairs: Deb Funnell / Micheal Davies
• 100 Up Ladies Winner (Back-to-Back): Robyn Short
• 100 Up Men’s Winner: Ron Baker
• Handicap Pairs: Graham Jordan / Rick Knight
• Men’s Handicap Singles: Doug McQuade
• Open Championship: Deb Funnell
• Ladies Championship Pairs: Deb Funnell / Janet Tucker
• Men’s Championship Pairs: Steve Simmons / Micheal Davies
• Ladies Championship Singles: Janet Tucker
• 5 Times Men’s Championship Singles: Micheal Davies

The evening was not only a celebration of success on the green but also a chance to reflect on the strong sense of community within the club. Congratulations to all winners and participants on a memorable season.

BOWLS SA - CHAMPION OF CHAMPIONS [JANET AND DAN TUCKER]

The excitement is building as Bowls SA’s prestigious Champion of Champions Week takes centre stage at Holdfast Bay, bringing together the very best talent from across the state. With the Final 16 knockout rounds underway, the standard of play will be nothing short of exceptional—showcasing precision, strategy, and true sportsmanship at the highest level.

This week holds special significance for our club as we proudly celebrate and acknowledge the outstanding achievements of our own members. Janet and Dan Tucker are stepping onto the big stage together, competing in the mixed pairs—an achievement that reflects both their skill and their dedication to the game.

Janet Tucker’s remarkable form continues as she also competes in the State Singles, a testament to her consistency and competitive spirit. Not stopping there, Janet joins forces with her sister Sue Hutchinson and Sue Madden in the State Triples, highlighting not only talent but the strong bonds that make our bowls community so special.

To have such strong representation across multiple events is a tremendous honour for our club. We wish Janet, Dan, Sue, and Sue every success as they take on the challenge—your hard work, commitment, and passion inspire us all.
Go well and enjoy every moment on the green!

🌺 ANZAC Day in Edithburgh – Lest We Forget 🌺

Saturday 25th April, 2026 - Join us this ANZAC Day as our community comes together to honour, reflect, and remember.

We are proud to share that the ADF has confirmed a special flypast by a P-8A Poseidon aircraft, taking place over the Edithburgh jetty and along Edith Street at 9:30am — a powerful tribute you won’t want to miss.

Program Highlights:
• Dawn Service
• Gunfire Breakfast @ Club Rooms
• Commemorative March
• ADF Flypast
• Return to the RSL & Bowls Club

After the service, gather with friends and community members at the RSL & Bowls Club for:
• Refreshments
• Two-up
• Live entertainment with John Weekley and crew (Blanche Street Blues)
• Lunch

This is a time to pause, reflect, and give thanks to all who have served — and those who continue to serve in challenging times.
We invite everyone to stand together in remembrance.

Lest We Forget.
