Barracuda’s got it done today. Sam for the 100% followed by Leo and Rhys.

What a wild day out for the Bellambi Taylor Shield Competition! Competitors had their work cut out for them, battling through punishing wind and swell. Despite the tough ocean, a nice variety of species hit the scales. A special shoutout to Leo for weighing in a Brown Sweetlip, a unique catch for this far south.

The legendary story of the day easily goes to Joe Hyzdal. Joe didn't just lose a massive winter Kingfish; the fish took his trusty Rob Allen speargun right along with it. If anyone spots a Kingy swimming past Port Kembla towing a gun, give Joe a buzz!

On the scoreboard, Sam Sylvester secured the 100% with a solid 12 species. Leonardo Cervice took a close second at 90.99%, followed by Rhys Duncan rounding out the top three at 80.27%.

It’s crazy to think this was only our third comp of the year thanks to relentlessly poor conditions, but we're keeping the momentum going. Next up, we’re aiming for a friendly pairs comp at Port Kembla on September 13th.

My first and only two Pikey Black Bream in Australia. I've caught hundreds of the usual yellowfin bream (canthopagrus butcheri) that inhabit most of Australia but these were found in central Queensland whilst looking for barramundi. These are Acanthopagrus pacificus and not something I've seen many people catch or spear before. Have you ever seen them?

We’re heading out for a South Coast Barracudas Social Dive tomorrow. Meet at Kiama Coast Walk Picnic Area and Lookout (Attunga Street) Kiama Heights at 8am. Floats and flags mandatory, see you there.

The Eden Spearfishing Challenge has come and gone for another year. What an absolute cracker of a weekend! A massive shoutout to the 74 divers who signed on, with 69 weighing in. We had a fleet of 26 boats on the water and 10 rock hoppers shooting it out.

The quality of fish brought to the scales was outstanding, highlighted by a 18.5kg Kingfish, some cracking Boarfish and our only sub junior smashed the current junior Australian record with a 1.88kg Red Rock Cod!

A massive thank you to all of our incredible event sponsors, we couldn't run this without your support. Most importantly, thank you to the competitors who travelled from 14 different clubs to compete, including a massive effort from our international legend representing the Blue Fins in New Zealand! 🇳🇿
