A massive congratulations to and all of the connections of Headley Grange, who produced a brilliant performance to take out the Group 1 Kingsford Smith Cup. To see a horse stand up and deliver on one of the biggest stages of the Queensland Winter Carnival is something special.

Earlier in the day, .c.smith_racing added another feature race to the tally in the Lord Mayor’s Cup at Rosehill with Portland, making it a pretty good Saturday for Robank-fuelled runners.

When the weather cools down, most horses will start using a bit more energy just to stay warm,even the ones that aren’t in hard work.

What we see a lot is feed being increased without really looking at whether the diet is still balanced or doing the job properly.

It’s also a good time to check your feeding rates, because what worked a few months ago might not quite be enough now, especially if your horse has dropped a bit of condition.

For a lot of horses, it’s not just about feeding more, it’s about the type of energy you’re putting in.

Fibre-based ingredients like beet pulp can be a really useful option here, helping to maintain condition with a steady, controlled release of energy without making horses hot or unsettled.

If you’re starting to notice changes in weight, recovery, or how your horse is holding condition, it’s worth having a proper look at the ration before it becomes a bigger issue.

Golden Sky ✨

“Golden Sky is a 7-year-old grey OTT gelding who has been in the show ring since he was 4 years old. He has been prepped on Robank feed since day dot! This feed is an absolute lifesaver and we are so grateful for their products.

He has placed at Thoroughbred Spring Fair, in Fashions on the Field events, Royal shows, and has also won a State Title. He also competes in dressage competitions and places highly, winning OTT awards.
