Well another year of werock Australia has been run and done. Over the weekend we competed at the final round at the Sydney 4x4 adventure show. We had a great weekend holding onto an early lead we managed to secure by the final track on Friday and taking out the win 17 point clear of second place. Team OLMATE 4x4 would like to thank all the event sponsors Racetech steel, JMW Engineering, MR Diggit, Smith tools and Solve for their continued support of the series.
We would also like to thank the event organisers James, Chris, David and Al for their continued efforts in growing the sport of rock crawling.
Finally I'd personally like to that my major sponsor and spotter Troy for his ongoing support and assistance. Without Troy from OLMATE 4x4 I know i wouldn't be able to consistently do well in these event, he's a great guy and a fantastic partner to run in these events with, I couldn't ask for a better bloke to guide me through the tuff stuff. Keep an eye out next year as Troy will step up into a driving position for one of the rounds so he can experience a different side of the team.

So it's been awhile since I've posted in here. So... We have nominated for the third round of Australian werock which is to be held at the Sydney 4x4 and adventure show in October. If you get a chance come on round to the werock site and watch some great driving and have a chat to some of the great teams that will be there on show.

Hello all, well it's been very quiet in here since I sold the OL MATE 4x4 LJ.
Well since then myself and Troy have decided to focus on the Australian WErock series and give TT a miss as the expense of this 1 event was similar to doing all 4 rounds of WErock for the year.
In late December I purchased a used and quiet dated single seat buggy to rebuild for WErock. After abit of a tidy up and a transmittion rebuild thanks to Wyong Automatics me and Troy set off to round 1 WErock in Wellington NSW. We had a very successful weekend coming away with the win after hitting only 1 cone and taking 2 reverses over the 5 courses. So we are pretty happy with the way the buggy handled we decided to make some aesthetic and safety changes. More pics of the upgrades to follow once it's completed.

Hey everyone.
Just putting an update on the page as it's been pretty quiet in here for awhile.
So the ol mate 4x4 LJ80 sold around 6 weeks ago and I've been in the process of figuring out where to go from here. I have recently purchased a veteran single seat rock crawler that will be completely overhauled over the next 6 months or so.

1980 Suzuki LJ80 comp truck
2015 Tuff Truck/ WE Rock compliant Cage.
Vehicle heritage: Tuff truck 2015 (6th place), WE Rock Round 3 (1st) WE Rock round 5 (7th)
Engine: 1996 Suzuki Baleno 1.6 Multipoint Fuel injection
Gearbox: 4 speed Suzuki Vitara auto. Standard shifter with reverse gate removed for quick shift between D and R. RA Designs rail shifter manualises the box. Heavy duty torque covertor.
Transfer case: Suzuki sierra case with Trailgear 6.5 reduction gears and air operated trail gear disconnect. Twin sticks fitted allowing 2h, 2l, 4h, 4l, rear dig. Lots of reinforcement on case and Mighty kong cradle with rock ring intergrated. Rover V8 engine mounts for mounting on low side, tube and bush on upper side.
Tail shafts: Front is a gibbo's 4mm seamless tubed Hilux with near new uni’s. Rear shaft is the same with 6mm seamless tube.
Diffs: Hilux shaved steer diffs F & R with RCV chromo/300m cv’s, dirty thirty chromo inner axles, 4:88 silverback v6 gearsets and solid pinion spacer in v6 heavy duty thirds. ARB airlockers F & R. Stock knuckles with custom hi steer double sheer arms. Front diff has wide track kit with 1.5” spacers. Rear has 3” spacers.
Front Steering: Trail gear 1650 pump, TG orbital and TG 8” ram.
Rear Steering: Holden VL pump, electric/hydraulic solenoid to 8” forklift ram.
Tires and rims: 40 treps @ 60% on 17x9 Dynamic rims with Design fab 17” weld on bead lock kit. All powder coated when built. Front tires run 40kg water per tire for added climbing ability. One trep has a tear in the sidewall but can be repaired. Worst case a tube will need to be run. Currently holding air with "sika" trail repair.
Suspension: Profender 14” coil overs all round. Setup with 3” up travel for crawling. Triple rate kit installed. Profender 2” bump stops set at 1.5” up travel but comes with 3” shims.
Extras info: Optima yellow top battery, saas water and volt gauges, multi pass fan powered auto cooler, custom 21L fuel cell, Warn hi-mount winch mid mounted behind cab, Runva 4500lb rear suck down winch, Honda civic 3 core alloy radiator with spal 12’ fan, 51mm 7075 alloy lower links with ruff stuff 7/8 heim joints, 1.5” tube upper links with 7/8 heims. Triangulated 4 link rear, 3 link front, PMD 4 point harness in date from march last year, ebay race seats, Window nets and windscreen included.
Spare parts: 4 cyl third member built with TG 4.88 gears, spool, solid pinion spacer, all setup ready to go in, spare tail shafts, 2 Dirty thirty chrome short side axles, 3 Dirty thirty chromo long side axles, 7 used but still serviceable dirty thirty chromo cv’s, 1 new dirty thirty chromo CV, spare uni’s, spare rover engine mounts, flexi snorkel for TT mud run, D shackles.
Trailer: Home-made dual axle trailer 2t rated, 10” electric brakes, 13” rims and tires, tool box on the front, 20l jerry can holder, 9kg gas bottle holder, fold down ramps, drive over ladder style guards, spare wheel with spare brake and hub assembly to suit. Needs some love but gets the buggy around fine.
Price: 20k is firm includes trailer.

Would just like to thank Troy from OL MATE 4x4 tuggerah and Runva for hooking me up with a brand spanking new 4500lb winch with synthetic rope. This will take up duties in the rear of the OL MATE LJ80 for sucking down the rear suspension during our comps. I'm hoping to be able to mount it so it can also do back recoveries while out social wheeling.

This is the upper section of Mini Wirriba at Tuff Truck 2015. About a third of the way through I hit a rock with the front diff and the headlight glass shatters on both lights.
