I have a story to share -it's not my story but I'm going to share it anyway and live with the consequences, because Im proud and because its about family and they almost always forgive you - eventually. Oh and there is a message in there as well....
My sister kristy is a beautiful woman, both inside and out.... always has been. She is smart and a successful business woman who over the years has juggled career and family, Often at the expense of her own health and sanity (not unlike so many women out there). She has also been an "unhealthy overweight" for most of her adult life, excepting the brief periods where she was trying the latest 'so called' magic pill. She is also intensely private. Today she smiled at me when i complimented her on how good she was looking, and she announced that 'her jeans were a size 12'. So why am i proud?
Well aside from the obvious, she looks great and i love her. Kristy has taken her life and her health into her own hands. She 'mostly' eats well and despite having all the reasons in the world not to exercise - she does it anyway.
When she started, she hated to run, her throat would close up and she would think that there was something seriously wrong with her and she would panic - but she perservered, once reassured that she was not in fact, going to die. Now she loves it - well she loves what it does for her.
So my point is that there is no miracle cure, no one thing that is going to make the problem go away and its never going to be an easy fix. Kristy hasnt stopped living to lose the weight, she doesnt eat cardboard and she enjoys the odd champagne (or three). She's not obsessive and she has done it on her own and in her own time...im just an interested observer. More importantly - because she is intrinsically motivated, this is not a temporary lifestyle change.
You are an inspiration kristy, you have found what so many seek.....a healthy balance. Sorry about the publicity!!!!
