A finisher for grip with
Perhaps some value particularly for a fighter that may have had a stand-up fighting background and now transitioning to MMA. You can hold the bar with a few seconds static for simulating extended hand fighting for cage control, add little wrist flexion and extension as well and hold;
We also swing, catch, and release, simulating the dynamic control and release that often occurs with tie up in MMA' Jits, Judo and Wrestling, and challenging distal grip strength and control as well.
We do them for time, 45 seconds to a minute, 1 set, 2 sets max!!

My opinion, and only my opinion, no matter how heavy it is, i.e the bar and not the sleeve,, if its easy to get your hand around it, the transfer of grip strangth and power for grappling arts is probably limited.

BTW, did these with this weight and it was like having a broomstick in his hand.

with ISSN Fight Science Camp Online & On-Demand

I do believe in testing fighters on numerous qualities contingent upon their approval and that of the skill coaches. If they object then we pass. The point of.testing goes beyond just measuring improvement in qualities, but gaining insight into the athletes individual genetics and physiology, which may help determine their recovery capacity, bioenergetics, traning frequency, loads and volumes, strengths, limitations, and perhaps some insight into mindset. The full ISSN Fight Camp is now available online, details below.

The ISSN® Fight Science Camp seminar was held on November 6th at the IHP® headquarters in Florida.
Hundreds joined to learn from the global experts about combat sports in regards to training, competition, psychology, weight cut and of course sports nutrition for fighters.
If you missed it due to a conflict of schedule or could not travel, now you can catch up and watch the on-demand version exclusively through the GPNi® portal.
With nearly 3 hours of jam-packed value, with six global experts in the field of “fight science” and sports nutrition, the on-demand seminar is one not to be missed.

This was professionally filmed “live” on location at the seminar and is now available for playback on-demand exclusively through the GPNi®.

Hybrid Good Mornings with Accommodated Resistance. Any value? Possibly. I love these and don’t use them much with my athletes, but have incorporated them with grapplers, Wrestlers, Jiu Jitsu and Judo. Backward force production and propulsion is something I often incorporate with Fight Sport athletes. While relocating the body loaded may be risky, we do these with light load at high velocity. These are ancillary to more conventional methods of developing strength and power and we usually add them for a few sessions, minus 4 weeks to fight/competition, 3 sets in the 6-8 rep range. They are often paired with unloaded Reverse Broad Jumps or Backward Pogos, as examples.
I am leaking a bit on the way down and need to stabilize my core and torso further, however the landings were relatively solid, which should be pencil straight and the pelvis neutral in the finished position; full body tension will need to be summated immediately to achieve such.
I am most interested as to whether the fighter believes in the interpretation of a movement contingent upon the fact that there is reasonable biomechanical and neuromuscular translation.
We never know unambiguously if what we apply will correlate to enhanced performance, so we just use sound science and rational programming to achieve the qualities most needed by the fighter/athlete at the time.  Nevertheless, they are fun and if you have an advanced resistance training background they may be worth trying.
