Congratulations to Blake Edwards on his incredible hole-in-one on the 9th hole, playing 111m, this weekend! ⛳️ This is Blake's second ace on the same hole, proving just how lucky (and skilled!) he is.

"I had an ace once before on the same hole a couple of years ago with the pin in the SAME place! I hit a wedge into the wind, it flew 10 feet past the hole and spun back in. I texted my wife and family first. It's an amazing feeling to have a hole in one especially when you see it go in."

Congratulations to staff member Ashley Hall who claimed victory at the 2024 Victorian PGA Foursomes Championship.

On Tuesday, 24th September, Southern Golf Club hosted 60 PGA Professionals competing for the prestigious 'Bob Shearer Shield' at the 2024 Victorian PGA Foursomes Championship.

Playing under the more relaxed 'Canadian Foursomes' format, Ash and his partner Ben Ford from Medway Golf Club delivered an impressive -8, 64 to secure the win. The pair got off to a strong start, birdieing the first two holes and maintaining momentum with flawless, mistake-free golf.

Kathy Shearer, wife of the late Bob Shearer, was present to award the shield.

Swap Day ⛳

This week, Green Acres co-hosted a Swap Day with Kew Golf Club, featuring both men’s and women’s competitions. The women enjoyed perfect weather, while the men faced challenging conditions due to heavy rain, causing the morning field to be abandoned. Despite this, the afternoon players pressed on and it turned into a great day.

Over 300 Green Acres members headed to Kew, while 240 Kew members played at Green Acres. The large turnout demonstrates the popularity of this event, and we look forward to next year’s Swap Day⛳

What a perfect morning for a round of golf, with the temperature reaching 15°C by 10am and the stunning view of our 18th hole ahead. This par 4, 330m final hole offers a thrilling challenge, with a narrow fairway and a subtle uphill curve, an ideal finish to any round. ⛳

🏌️‍♂️ Green Acres - Hole 11 🌳

The Green Acres hole 11, a Par 3, demands accuracy and precision, with its 153m stretch for the men and 136m for the women. Any shot that strays from the green is likely to encounter trouble—whether it's the daunting water hazard on the right, the protective bunkers, or the grassy hollows waiting to catch an errant ball.

The large, two-tiered green is a true test of skill, with its narrow front requiring pinpoint accuracy to land close to the pin. Go long, and you'll find yourself among the trees. ⛳️

🎉 Celebrating 50 Years with David Tudor! 🎉

We were thrilled to welcome David Tudor back to the clubhouse for lunch today after a few weeks away. Although David missed the 30-60-year members event last month, we were delighted to present him with his 50-year membership medallion today, surrounded by family and friends.

David has been a Friday lunch regular for over 30 years and a fixture at Table 1 in the corner of the member's bar, affectionately known as the "Table of Knowledge."

Congratulations, David, on this remarkable milestone! 🏆

A perfect 20°C day saw over 60 women, in pink and blue, compete in a fun 4BBB competition to mark the changing of the guard at Green Acres.
