WOMENS PREMIER LEAGUE - RESULT ROUND 8
Our WPL travelled to EDSACC on Wednesday night for a make up game against league leaders Killarney Districts and came away with a hard fought 1-1 draw.
Match report from our very own Scott Donald as follows:
The team were on their second redemption mission in four days, this time taking on taking on Killarney Districts who rolled into the venue courtesy of Culture Kings. While they may have looked the part, our girls had other ideas.
The change in formation in the first half worked better than a fake moustache in witness protection, leaving Killarney scratching their heads and wondering if they'd shown up to the wrong game.
The Rams snuck in an early scrappy goal that had all of the elegance of a shopping trolley with a busted wheel. They're all worth the same amount on the scoreboard though and so it was 1-0 to the visitors.
Georgie put together her second composed performance in a row, proving that miracles do happen and that pigs may, in fact, be preparing for take off.
Chloe's first pitch inspection arrived right on schedule, but the the second one later in the match was as necessary as a life jacket in the Sahara.
Aleah once again reminded everyone that knee cartilage is apparently optional equipment, while Khyra was solid as always - the footballing equivalent of a Toyota Hilux: reliable, tough and seemingly indestructible.
Killarney eventually found their equaliser through a clinical header that was cleaner than the Rams' early effort, ensuring the points were shared in a hard fought 1-1 draw.
It wasn't always pretty but neither was Rocky 2. The Rams backed up for their second redemption game in four days, rolled up their sleeves and earned a point the old fashioned way - with grit, determination and just enough chaos to keep everyone entertained.
