SENIOR FOOTY WRAP - GRAND FINAL DAY!
The senior footballers delivered the Club’s 25th senior premiership yesterday, with two great goals in the last 7 minutes and an Andrew Steele point with 3 seconds left on the clock leaving us 1 point ahead of Werribee Centrals when the final siren rang out across St Albans.
In a tough uncompromising game befitting a Grand Final where no more than a couple of goals separated the teams all day, we were ahead when it mattered most which brought great relief to the maroon and gold faithful who had been waiting 17 years to bask in premiership glory once again.
Best on ground medallist Andrew Steele and Sam Purdy both booted 2 goals and were threats up forward all day, while the retiring Jayden Fanning capped a great career with a premiership in his final game. Other good players were Ben Crombie, Will Hough and Ben Flintoff, but the will of all the players in the team to get us over the line will long be remembered by all who were in attendance.
