Echidna Park 2 Day

Our annual 2 Day Shoot at Echidna Park delivered plenty of targets, a myriad of weather conditions and a number of 25 Breaks and PB's. First time setting the grounds for our new EP Target director Angus Grant who threw in a new ground for good measure. Targets were well received despite the challenging weather conditions he had to work with. Well done Gus!

Saturday's 100 Target Event sponsored by Kimberley Quarries had 65 shooters braving the rain. The Highgun was hotley contested with the leaderboard tight at the top most of the day. Michael McDonald came away with the sash by a single target on a 92/100. Our shooters and their families then enjoyed Woodfired Pizzas at no cost thanks to our generous sponsors Twomey's (Chris Ariti) and Great Northern Rural (Dennis Family).

The Handicap Highgun sponsored by All Scope Clay Sports came down to a Shootoff between newly minted A Grade Shooter James Officer and Sub-Junior Mason Dennis. A tough set of birds saw an even contest with young Mason netting the win by a Target on the last pair. Huge Thanks to Andrew & Nadene of All Scope for their continuous support of the shooting sports.

The weather rolled in hard overnight in the windy city with blustery conditions for the 4th State Qualifier but 72 shooters rose to the challenge. Irishman Eamon McCabe clearly at home in the wet & windy weather shot an impressive 25 break on top of the hill to come away with the Highgun on a well shot 91/100.

Our English Sporting side event sponsored by B-Tech was also won by Eamon who continued his winning streak with 45/50.

Those still around on Monday made a novelty event of the ES dubbed the 'Pairs on Chairs' to level the playing field with the people's champion Boodg Howard, who as many of you know, now shoots with the assistance of a stool after learning to walk again. Certainly put things in perspective for those of us able bodied with the challenges of adapting your shooting to continue doing what you love. It was a hell of alot of fun and goes to show how accessible our sport is for people of all abilities. Maybe a new novelty event!

The biggest of thanks to our wonderful army of volunteers. We were thin on the ground at club level this weekend with a few away but were bolstered by shooters from other clubs who stepped in to help.

We had a number of people helping out our members with course reseting and trap filling on Saturday afternoon and early Sunday morning to try and reset targets for the extreme wind that blew in, as well as packup on Sunday. Too many to name but you know who you are and your help doesn't go unnoticed and is very appreciated.

Huge thanks to Sharon Merritt of Hastings/State for all her help in the Office over the weekend with noms & squadding; Tania Noble as always in the Kitchen with much appreciation to Anne Thomas of Harvey and our Junior helpers Riley Dennis, Lola Gould, Ella & Riley McPherson who all jumped in to assist and keep everyone fed. Rob Copeta for helping the boys with Breakfast and Louis Hayward for helping serve dinner on Sat night. Thanks also to Kirsty-Lee McPherson of Moora for jumping behind the bar.

Thanks to our EP members and their families who contributed over the weekend to take the load off the committee. Many of whom are new to the club and to shooting.

Lastly Thanks to all our shooters and their families for making the trip to Echidna Park and we hope you enjoyed the weekend. List of Winners & photo's attached.
