If you're located in Africa, and are contemplating messaging me, stop. Do not. I am not interested in selling dogs. I certainly won't be sending dogs to you. The best you can hope for is a "F**k off", before being blocked.

We've been pretty quiet on the kennel page in 2022. It was a pretty interrupted year and we didn't get to many events. But, we did manage to achieve a few things. Bhu and Tink collected a couple of legs towards their Working Pack Dog (ANKC) titles. Bhu and Stella competed on the first ever ANKC sled race to be held in Victoria, Australia, and made a start on their Working Team Dog (ANKC) titles. Bhu completed the requirements for her Working Weight Pull Dog Excellence (ANKC) title. She also won Best In Specialty Show at the only Malamute Specialty Show held in Australia in 2022, at only her second show in twelve months. She won the AMCV Weight Pull Dog Of The Year, the seventh time one of my dogs has achieved this, the fifth of my dogs to do and only the fourth bitch to do so, her mother being the first, and so the first time a mother/daughter combination features. Her mother Luna was the first bitch to win the AMCV'S Windchill Tawni Tugger Weight Pull Shield , and this year Bhu became the second, another mother/daughter first, and the 3rd of my dogs to win it. And today a lovely surprise arrived in the mail, from Paul Consto and the American Staffordshire Terrier Club of Victoria, who ran an All Breeds Weight Pull pointscore competition. Despite not getting to many pulls I think the bare minimum of 3, Bhu placed 2nd overall, with a best Pull of 942 kilos (or 2072 pounds), with a ratio of 32.15 %. First place was Paul's Lenny, a Bull Terrier who out pulled Bhu each competition on ratio, an incredible little dog.

So while we didn't get to many events, we managed to achieve an awful lot! We're looking forward to seeing what 2023 holds!

We hope 2022 was kind to you and yours, and Wish you all a Merry Christmas, and a fantastic New Year!

Life has gotten in the way this winter, so we haven't managed to get the Malamutes out before today. Bhu, Tink and Stella finally got a short run this morning, with some help from Siberians Wash and Riva.

I've previously posted about the importance of length of neck. Today, I want to talk about balance, and how that length of neck is matched by a length of back. And back packing is a great example- the way freighting was done in warm weather. Bhu is only a 31 kilo bitch. That pack, on the ground behind her, contains 30 % of her body body weight. That's nearly 9 and a half kilos. A short back, that's in balance with a short neck, risks a lot of that weight being carried over the loin. What's needed is a length of back, and ribbing, that supports the weight of a pack, without the risk of injury. Too long in loin, and you have a weak back. Too short, in loin or back, and you risk injury and impaired movement. So what we need is a length of neck that allows for leverage in hauling heavy freight, with a length of back that allows the carriage of heavy packs. It's not all about bulk.

After we lost J so suddenly, we decided we really wanted to get another Am Staff "at some point". We were thinking years into the future. But, just before Xmas, J's breeder, our good friend Dee at Tredanky Kennels gave us the opportunity to have J's neice come and join us. Resistance was futile! Introducing Hallee, Tredanky Zitkala SA. We think she's settling in ok! And we're confident she'll prove as versatile as her uncle. Hopefully quieter, too!
