Div 3 Ladies had a tough game against Wombats in the cold, wet, wintery conditions on Saturday.
Wombats capitalised early with a short corner and were up 2-0 at half time.
The 2nd half saw our ladies make the most of using the width of the field and get lots or entries into the circle, earning a short corner and Kalli slotting away a great goal in her new position on the wing.
The game seesawed all day and could have gone either way.
Grill'd award went to Caitlin for some great defensive efforts and the Zo'i espresso wake up awards went to Penny for channelling the Socceroos into her game and Poppy for needing a pick me up after a tough match.

Friday night’s Round 7 saw the our U16 Boys play take on Falcons for the second time this season.

The first quarter was fairly even and the quarter ended with no side scoring, despite Magpies having several attempts.
Flynn broke the deadlock in the second quarter to give Magpies a one goal lead.
Good momentum continued into the third quarter with Jake adding to the scoreboard, to take a two goal lead.
Early in the fourth quarter Falcons made a comeback with a nice field goal.
The boys rallied in response, which resulted in Jobe scoring from a penalty corner. However his celebratory cartwheel, saw him rewarded with a green card for throwing his stick to the ground in the process. 😔
There was no further score for the remainder of the game.

Final score Falcons 1 - Magpies 3

This week’s Grill'd award was awarded to Joel with Sam taking home the SportsPower Albury Award.

The Div 1 women played an entertaining 3-0 win over Wombats on a slippery and sun-blinded Wodonga pitch. After matching play up either end in the first half we broke through in the 10th minute of the 3rd quarter then again with 8 minutes to go to go into the last quarter 2-0 up.

Although Wombats were aggressive in the 4th quarter we were able to create many opportunities to score, and slotted one more via a short corner in the 4th.

Our Grill'd award went to Millie MacKirdy (mainly for her shocked look when she scored our third goal) and Sherren Rahaley earned our Zo'i espresso award (for the flattest ball she’s ever given, and passing it to Bob).

Magpies U16 Boys- Round 1

On Wednesday night our U16 boys took to the field to play their deferred Round 1 game against Wombats.

The night was cold and being a midweek game, the boys took a little to get into the swing of things.

In the first quarter Magpies took the lead with a goal from Eamonn, followed by another goal from Max.

Magpies extended their lead during the second quarter with two more goals from Jake.

There was no change to the score line during the second half of the game.

Final score Magpies 4 Wombats 0

It was also the team’s managers birthday and the team celebrated with cake after the game, thanks Katie.

Magpies U16 Boys - Round 6

This week our U16 boys up against Wombats and after last week’s loss to Wangaratta they were keen for a win.

The first quarter saw the team take some time to settle before taking the lead with Eamonn scoring late in the quarter.

The second quarter saw the boys come out with good structure and on field talking. This resulted in goals from Darcy, Jake and Dom, extending Magpies lead to 4-0 at halftime.

After the half time break, the boys had most of the attacking play, but couldn’t get the ball past Wombats goalkeeper.

The final quarter brought a positional change, with Phoenix stepping out goals and onto the field. The boys again found it hard to score during the quarter, until Phoenix fired home a goal from a penalty corner late in the quarter.
Final score Magpies 5 Wombats 0.

The Grill'd award went to Darcy and the SportsPower Albury award to Joel

Div 2 Women 🖤🤍🖤🤍

The Div 2 Women played an amazing game today. Top of the table clash with Falcons Orange. The ladies started the game well and played like they have over the past few weeks. Their ball transfer was excellent, and the one-two passes was great to see making the Falcons Orange players move. After some great teamwork, we finally got one in the goals and kept building from there. A great strength to and determination in the goal circle led to another goal. We ended with 3 amazing goals.

The ladies came away with an awesome 3-0 Win we are still on top of the ladder

Great game, ladies. Watching you all play and seeing the teamwork continue to build over the past few weeks has been amazing to watch. You should all be proud of yourselves. 🖤🤍

Grill'd BOG: This week goes to Katie Lyon for her running, control, building strength, and overall amazing game. Well done Katie🖤🤍🖤🤍

Our Wake Up Award coffee award from Zo'i espresso since I had a couple from the start, I used 3 today first hot chocolate went to Zoe F for a great game, attacking, positioning, strength and helping in defence. Great game Zoe. Second coffee award went to Olivia for her strength, running (endless running) and ball movement great game Olivia. Third hot chocolate award went to Bec who despite not touching the ball for most of the game, she could of got a little complacent but she stayed focused and saved a couple of goals especially one that she saved with her glove over her head.

A big thank you to Zoe F filling in this week — 🖤🤍🖤🤍🖤🤍🖤🤍
