Larapinta Equestrian is pleased to announce that this year’s Australian Open Polo charity partner is The Six Hour Project. 🙌🌴🐎

One Australian dies every six hours from melanoma and the Six Hour Project is on a mission to change this devastating statistic. Proceeds from ticket and raffle sales will be used to support dedicated teams of researchers at Mater Research, who are working on life-saving research into the causes, prevention and treatment of melanoma and other cancers.
Queensland has long had the highest incidence of Melanoma per capita, worldwide and with highly committed teams and with the support of people like you, improving research outcomes will benefit a greater number of people in Queensland and Australia. Everything you need to know about the Black Ram Polo by Tailgate, a highlight of the Downs Shield Tournament 2024!

✨What is Polo by Tailgate?
All over the world spectators enjoy polo from the comfort of their very own vehicle. The Black Ram Polo by Tailgate, invites spectators to the Downs Polo Club to enjoy top-quality country polo.

Via a Black Ram VIP ticket, or a reserved side-line car space ticket, you can back your car up to the side-line and enjoy all the polo action! Each reserved spot is allocated their own 3m frontage of the field, enough room to pack a small pop-up tent for extra shade if you like.

We will have food trucks and a bar available for refreshments. There’s even the opportunity to shop with Gaucho House who will bring along their quality leather goods all the way from Argentina. We will be hosting a divot stomp, an integral part of any polo experience, as well as men and women’s fashions on the field. Join us at the Clifton Showgrounds on Sunday 28th July from 10am. We have an exciting year ahead at the Downs Polo Club with EIGHT tournaments hosted at our Clifton grounds, part of the Queensland Polo season.

We'll be kicking off the Autumn season in April:

🐴 13th & 14th April - Club Tournament
🐴 20th & 21st April - Club Tournament
🐴 27th & 28th April - Eagers Shield (weekend one)
🐴 4th & 5th May - Eagers Shield (weekend two)

🐴 8th & 9th June - Cooke O'Leary Cup

And we'll round out the winter season with three tournaments in July:

🐴 13th & 14th July - Sapphire Shield
🐴 20th & 21st July - Silvershop Bracelet
🐴 27th & 28th July - Downs Shield

Get your ponies ready, and have a picnic packed, ready for a day out at the Polo! It's going to be a great year on the Downs.
