• Stance (Start Position)
Knees bent, chest up, eyes forward. Stay balanced and ready to move.

• Load (Build Power)
Sit into your legs. Your weight is loaded and ready to explode! This is where your power comes from.

• Shoot (Explode & Change Levels)
Drop your hips, not your chest. Bend through knees and hips while keeping your posture strong.
Drive off the ground, step in with intent. Fast, direct, and aggressive. Think smooth like a plane starting takeoff.

Every second you earn = pressure on them.
Every detail matters.

Control the moment before the contact.
If your arm makes contact first, you’ve already lost body position, and you’re probably on the outside of the attacker. In this position the attacker could spin out of the tackle, produce an offload.
In some situations you may end up completing the tackle, but could possibly lose the ruck. So when making front on contact just remember to:
- Move your body.
- Square up, Step in.
- Dominate the contact.

Lower body tackle drill!
- Hips stay square, Low entry
- Hands up, eyes on target, drive through the hips
- Holding the shield sideways forces the athlete to stay low and hit the target zone which is around waist level.
- Once confidence is built, and technique is improving . Remove the shield, increase speed and intensity.

Stay square when you move off the defensive line.
The moment you turn your hips, you give the attacker the edge.

Keep your shoulders and hips square.
Move forward towards your target.
Control the space in front of you.
