We usually think in terms of attacking with a move that we select. This can certainly work. Once you get to a certain level of opponent it will start working less and less. You need some form of antecedent action that breaks your opponents stance/balance/concentration. One of the best such actions from bottom position and standing position is to attack your opponents balance. This will always create an immediate and highly effective cover for your actual attack. Make it a habit when you’re sparring to think in terms of attack his balance first and employ the move second - this will keep you being successful Mo matter what the level you are competing against.
