As I closed one door, I happily walked through a new one this week.

After 22 years as a PT, I still love what I do. With my interest these days in exercise as medicine, preventative and curative, it made sense for my next move to be alongside the down to earth, professional and skilful crew at 4Lane Physiotherapy.

You can find me there teaching a signature LLPT class and providing personal training.

If you’re looking for a bit of LLPT in your life, you know where to find me xx

NEW CLASS - LEARN TO LIFT - WEDNESDAYS 9AM

I am really passionate about getting people to strength train. I never tire of the stories I hear time and again about how quickly it can benefit someone in life, often within weeks, not to mention the benefits it is making to their long term health and longevity.

Word is getting out about the power of strength training and building muscle later in life. I don't think it is a surprise to people anymore that strength training is the most powerful anti aging tool we have available to us especially for the brain!

And whilst longevity is something on many of our minds, quality of this long life is a very important consideration I believe. With strength comes the ability to keep doing the things you love and with strength comes independence.

So people have an interest these days, they know its important but how do they start, where do they start?

I wanted to make starting this process easy and accessible. So Learn to Lift was born as a simple introduction to strength training with people all at the beginning of their strength journey in a small group, in a non intimidating environment.

Anyone is welcome in our Learn to Lift program but sessions are written with special considerations for hips, knees, backs and shoulders that may have taken a beating over the past few decades. So if your birthdate is in the 1950's, 60's or early 70's this is especially made for you :).

Learn to Lift start next week. Spots are limited.

If 2024 is your year to start, I would love to help you take those first few steps.

You can message or call me on 0400240227 if you want to join in or would like any further details.

I look forward to seeing you in the gym one day soon :)

Coaching and or counselling (as I am learning) is about asking questions. It seems I have been coaching myself for quite a number of years because I approach most situations with questions.

These days I work on asking the best questions, which may not be the usual or default questions people often ask. For example:

Many people (including myself once) would ask "what SHOULD I do" to change x,y or z?

A better question I found was "what CAN I do". Because a plan without action is just a theory, a thought. Nothing changes without action.

But the BEST question I have found is "what CAN I do CONSISTENTLY?" Because change is simply the practice of new habits and ways of doing things until they become the new normal. There is no point starting something you know you cannot continue to do.

I am now 48 years old. I have been in the health and fitness industry for around 18 years. And I have learnt that "learning to live life in the middle" is a valuable place to spend your energy and a wonderful place to live for most people.

Doing nothing is not an option in my opinion. We have a responsibility to take care of our body and keep it healthy through movement and good food.

Doing everything is not sustainable for many and often ends in burnout (and going back to doing nothing) and comes with its own stresses which isn't healthy either.

But doing "something", over and over, every day, every week is often all that is needed to create something great.

So when you drag your arse out of bed this week with a foggy head, sore back and no energy, ask yourself the best question. "What can I do consistently" to change how I feel?

When the sun eventually comes out and stays out and you find you can’t do up the button on your shorts, ask yourself the best question. "What can I do consistently” to change this situation?

And when you gasp for air at the top of the stairs or struggle to get off the ground without assistance one day, ask yourself the best question. "What can I do consistently” to be stronger and fitter?

I think you know the answer to this question in all of these scenarios but if you don't, I am always happy to help you find them.

You can message me or give me a call on 0400240227 if you need any help.

I found strength training when I was in my 30's. I wish I had of found it earlier in life. It changed my relationship with my body, it changed my mindset which in turn changed the way I lived life. That is why I think learning to love exercise and embracing getting strong is a precious gift and rewarding tool to equip our girls with.

Whether it is just to learn about their body and about good technique so they can fly free and continue to train on their own in the environment of their choice or whether its to "be a part of something", to enjoy the comradery and joy that comes from training in a small group with constant education and motivation from having a coach on hand. Teen Training does that.

I have been training teens for over half of my 16 year career, often with girls starting at 12/13 and finishing up as they turn 18. Some even then move onto the adult classes. It is the most rewarding thing to see them grow and change, stand taller, be more confident and get a grasp of what healthy body image looks like.

This term I have 4 spots left in Teen Training. Classes start at 5pm and go for 45 minutes. If you think your daughter would like to come and see how we do things here, please send me a message or give me a call on 0400240227.

Why make a session for men only, targeting the over 40's?

Well, because they need to do something too and because I don't believe age is just a number. Our bodies do change as we age, but we can do something about that.

Everyone needs to exercise (unless your job\lifestyle is highly physical). Exercise is the best medicine for your head, your heart, your joints, for pain relief, for quality of life and longevity. But I have had many a conversation with men who at this age and stage haven't exercised in years, are sporting an injury or 7, don't know their way around a gym and just don't know how to get started. So they put it off and then another year passes.

I wanted to put on a session that focused on "participation over performance".

My goal is to get you in the gym and get you moving, to feel better and to improve your health markers.

We will work around any injuries or limitations and I will meet you where you are currently at with your fitness. You just have to make a commitment and get yourself there!
Call Leanne on 0400240227 for more details or to book a spot. Only 2 spots left.

The way I view and teach is that exercise is an “opportunity”. We are privileged to be able bodied and have the opportunity to move our bodies daily in many different ways. Our 6am sessions are also an opportunity to train with this stunning backdrop. This photo does not do this morning’s sky show justice. Such a stunning autumn morning and so lucky to train in fresh air with sunrises 😍

Whilst we can't train in the gym this week we are doing online classes everyday at 8am and Monday, Wednesday and Friday at 6am as well. Classes are mostly strength based and are created to challenge the muscles with no equipment necessary.

Anyone is welcome to join us. We had 13 peeps starting their day right this morning, keeping up their exercise routine and getting some endorphins flowing all before the sun was high in the sky :).

Send me a message if you would like the link to join in tomorrow or later in the week.
