So Councillor Lush is still on his Dublin caravan park obsession. Still relentlessly pushing it at every opportunity, in my view wasting Council's time and ratepayers money.
There was a public meeting a few weeks ago in Dublin to guage the public support for it.
Based on the turnout there is none, see attendees below. Not one member of the public turned up for it.
I was there, given my caravan park has just been approved on Ruskin road.
But Councillor Lush sees no impediment in using council land to unfairly compete with the private sector, I wonder how he would feel if a fellow Councillor was obsessed with setting up in opposition to his business interests?
Councillor Lush during the meeting did not just observe and listen. Oh no he was an enthusiatic advocate and cheerleader for the proposal during the meeting.
I presume that will mean he will take no further part in tabling, seconding, speaking and vote on motions in relation to the Dublin caravan park? Sarcasm intended.
The Lions club marketeer, Brenton I believe, says that the caravan park, whatever you do don't call it a caravan park, bushmans camp or some such nonsense. We don't want call it a caravan park do we now, no that would be too obvious breach of the competitive neutrality principle.
Brenton stated it could be set up with no toilet amenities. That's right- clientele will just wonder down the main street in their pjs to go to the public toilets at the other end of the main street.
If this caravan park can be set up with no amenities then so can mine presumably.
Brenton also stated that overnighters staying at that caravan park would not have come to mine. Huh? how does he figure that one out is beyond me.
This is public land the lions club want to expropriate for their proposal. There is no need for further accommodation, Parham has just been set up, mine is being set up.
What is urgently needed in the area is tourism attractions. Having long term stayers, doing the caravan park circuit, in your face as you drive into Dublin is not a good look. In fact it is a very bad look and people will avoid stopping there if they can.
Something that could be put there is some food vans with signage on the highway. The pub and the servo can have their own food van. overall there will be more people will stop thinking here is a cheap, fast place to get some food and enjoy sitting outside to eat it.
As for attractions how is this for an idea. Steven Jones protest statues out the front of my caravan park but on my land. People can buy spray cans and have fun spraying them. Look up cadillac park in America.
Now that would be something novel and interesting.
Council have stated that the statues can't be on their land because of the insurance risk.
