⚽️UNDER 10 BOYS SEASON WRAP UP ⚽️
The season started with 75-80 kids coming to trial and show the depth of talent in the Under 10 age group. We managed to select an 18-man squad that were able to train and develop as a team. We began the season very competitive, however did lose the first 2 games by one goal against the top teams. With consistent efforts at training the team bonded, and we went on to be undefeated for the remainder of the Western Youth League season, with 3 draws and 12 wins, scoring 47 goals and only conceding 10. The boys should be commended for their efforts through the season, knowing that even with the challenges of illness, injury and concussions they continued to show up for each other and get the job done.
As the last event of the season the team travelled to Kanga Cup where the boys we able to prove they have what it takes to compete against the best. In the plate division the boys remained undefeated through the pool games, scoring 33 goals with only 4 against and taking the top position on the ladder. Competing against Western Academy 11 for the major semi-final, the boys fought hard and came away with a 2-nil win, securing their spot in the grand final. Up against Wagga who got a early goal in the grand final, the boys held on scoring right on the final whistle which would have finished the game as a draw. Unfortunately, the referee had called the game and denied their goal. In spite of this, the boys should be proud of their efforts, taking out runner up in the Plate division at Kanga. It has been a privilege to be able to coach and mentor these boys in their first year as a representative side. Also, a shout out to all the parents for their support of the boys, and a special mention to Ema and Phil for all their work behind the scenes. Additionally, thank you to Nathan and Alex for their help in coaching the team.
