⭐NSW COUNTRY CLUB OF THE YEAR: DUBBO ATHLETICS CLUB ⭐

Dubbo Athletics Club awarded the NSW country club of the year award at the NSW athletics awards night at Sydney Olympic Park. Dubbo dominated the NSW championships in January claiming an historic win in the points score. Dubbo scored 915.5, to defeat Blue Mountains/Springwood - 611.5, Mingara - 467 and Athletics Wollongong - 431points.

In the last three decades coastal regional clubs, Athletics Wollongong, Mingara, IBS, Gosford, Wallsend and Coffs Harbour have won the point score. This year Dubbo claimed the Gibbs/Loomes Shield for the leading club at the Country Championships. Dubbo is the first inland country club to win the championships in over 30 years!

The Gibbs/Loomes Shield, which was inaugurated in 2014, recognises over 170 years of extraordinary volunteer service by three stalwarts of country athletics - Rod Gibb, Jan Gibb and Valmai Loomes.

Cam, Sarah, Rose, Karina and Stephen travelled to Sydney to accept the Gibbs/Loomes Shield on behalf of the club. Well done to all volunteers and athletes involved!

🌺THANK YOU SARAH 🌸

We would also like to say a big thank you to Sarah Ryan for her incredible contribution to the club. Sarah has been on the Dubbo Athletics committee for 7 years. Sarah remained on this season as Canteen Manager, despite no longer having a child attending Friday night competition.

Over the years, Sarah has taken on many roles within the club. Some positions were official, while others she simply stepped up and did because the club needed support. Sarah has contributed as our Publicity Officer, coordinated region shirts, assisted with sponsorship, and of course, continues to be one of our dedicated throws coaches.

Her willingness to help wherever needed, along with the time and energy she has given to the club over many years, has made a significant impact on our athletics community.

We have greatly appreciated the volunteer hours you have given to the club.

Dubbo on the Big stage!!

DUBBO Athletics Club is proud to announce that 4 of our athletes will be heading to the upcoming Oceania Athletics Championships in Darwin, running from May 18–23!

Regional Australia Team
• U/18 - Logan Penman (800m) – Off the back of a strong season, Logan will make his international debut.

• Opens - Ella Penman (200m & 400m) – Ella’s run of outstanding performances continued, recently crowned 400m Champion at the Australian Uni Games and making her first senior final in the open 400m at the Australian Athletics Championships placing 6th and topped it off with Gold in the 4x400m Mixed Relay for NSW.

Australian Masters Team
• M40 – Steve Gamble (60m, 100m, 400m, 800m, 400m Hurdles, Long Jump, Triple Jump, High Jump, Shot Put, Javelin & Outdoor Pentathlon) - Steve has had a strong first season back in competition after 23 years away from high level competition, he was crowned Australian M40 Masters Champion in Triple Jump, Silver in the 4x100m Relay and Bronze in Long Jump at the recent Australian Masters Championships.

Australian Para-Athletics Team
• T36 - Zac Harding – (100m, 200m, Long Jump, Shot Put and Javelin) - Zac is a dual registered Athlete with both Narromine Athletics and Dubbo Athletics, he is an exciting young para-athlete and Australian Record holder, Zac recently won Gold at the U/20 Australian Athletics Championships in the 100m and Javelin.

A fantastic achievement to represent at this level. All their hard work and training has paid off and we wish the team all the best as they take on the Oceania region in Darwin and make Dubbo and Narromine proud.
