A MASSIVE upgrade behind the scenes at First Wave 🔧🌊

This is our pool plant room, where the heating system for the pool lives.

Yesterday we replaced the old gas heater with two brand new electric heat pumps.

What does this upgrade means for our lessons?

✅️ The pool now stays at a steady 33°C year round
✅️Both systems work together for better efficiency and consistency
✅️We now have backup heating if one unit ever needs servicing/repairs

For the kids, it simply means warm, comfortable water EVERY lesson!

A big thank you to Poolwerx Dubbo for the install and giving our whole system an overhaul!
You guys have been amazing!! 🙏

We’re looking forward to everyone enjoying the warm magnesium-rich water from this point on.

Give the Poolwerx team a 👍 in the comments for the great work.

Tomorrow is a big day for us.

Term 1 is the very first official term as First Wave Learn To Swim 🎉 - new name, new structure, new team in the water and on deck…

and the same heart for helping Dubbo kids feel safer and more confident around water.❤️

Over the holidays we’ve been quietly rebuilding:

A dedicated swim reception desk (no more lining up at the gym counter - you’ll come straight to our swim specialist for everything lessons, make‑ups and questions).

Clear roles and structure behind the scenes so classes run calmer, cleaner and more consistent for your kids.

A refreshed team of caring, qualified instructors who are ready to meet you this week.

We still have a handful of Term 1 spots available - especially in our morning classes for babies, toddlers and preschoolers.

These calmer morning sessions are perfect if you:
Have a little one at home during the day
Want to ease them into the water without the after‑school rush.

Or prefer a quieter pool and smaller classes.

If you’d like details on days, times and levels, comment INFO below or send us a DM with your child’s age and we’ll reply with the best options for your family.

Here’s to a fresh start, a new First Wave, and a safer, more confident term in the water for your kids. 🌊❤️

One of our First Wave swim teachers is making a very special splash this February.

We're all behind you Rosie! ❤️

Rosie is taking on the Starlight Super Swim challenge, swimming 7km in Feb to raise funds to brighten the days of seriously ill kids in hospital.

Every week we help kids become safer and more confident in the water.

Starlight helps kids who are facing something far bigger than swimming lessons - long days in hospital, treatment, and a lot of fear.

This fundraiser helps bring them joy, play, and a break from all of that.

If we've been part of your family’s swim journey and you’re in a position to help, we’d love you to get behind this awesome cause.

Every dollar, every share, and every message of encouragement helps.

Happy Teachers’ Day to our amazing Swim Teachers! 💙
Thank you for your patience, dedication, and passion for every stroke you’ve corrected, every confidence you’ve built, and every swimmer you’ve inspired to love the water. 🏊‍♀️
You don’t just teach swimming, you teach courage, discipline, and perseverance.
We’re so grateful for all that you do! 🌟💧

Today is World Teacher’s Day. 💙

It’s a chance to recognise all educators - including Swim Teachers, who play a vital role in helping children develop essential water safety and swimming skills.

For many children, their Swim Teacher is their first formal educator, guiding them through new experiences in an unfamiliar environment. These early lessons build confidence, capability, and a foundation for lifelong safety around water.

Thank you to all the Swim Teachers who make a difference every day.

💦 KEEP WATCH! Every Swim, Every Time! 💦

Drowning can happen quickly and silently even in shallow water. Whether your child is just starting lessons or swims confidently, active supervision is the key to keeping them safe.
Let’s make every swim a safe one together! 💙

Spring is here – check your pool fence and gate to keep kids safe around water. 💦

Spring is here – is your pool safe?

Children under five are naturally curious and fast around water, which puts them at serious risk of drowning. Each year in Australia, we lose on average 19 young children to drowning, with half of these tragedies occurring in backyard swimming pools.

While active supervision is always the best protection, no parent or caregiver can watch a child every second of the day. A functioning, compliant pool fence and self-closing, self-latching gate provides a vital extra layer of protection.

🌊 Teaching kids about water safety doesn’t need to start with fear.

🚦 Would you push a child into traffic to teach road safety?
🔥 Would you let them burn themselves to teach fire safety?
🌳 Would you let them climb dangerously high to teach about falling?
⛰️ Would you let them run to the edge of a cliff to learn awareness?

Of course not.

So why would we start water safety with panic?

Children can become confident, capable, and water-wise through trust, play, and connection not fear.

Our goal is always to create a safe, positive space where little ones learn to love the water while staying safe. ✨

Parents! If a child is struggling in the water, don’t jump in. We need to teach our little ones early!
Reach or Throw - Never Go.
Stay on land. Reach with a pool noodle, stick, or esky lid.
Throw a floatation aid and keep talking to them.
Call 000 immediately.
Rivers and dams = cold, fast, hidden drop-offs. Keep kids within arm’s reach.
Stay dry. Stay safe. Save smart. 💦

Comment “SAFE” if you’ll teach this to your kids tonight.

PS: The safest kids near water are swimmers - teach 10 minutes this week. back float, kick to the wall, shout for help. Repeat it.
PPS: If its still too cold for you, our pool is heated to 33-34c. Perfect to learn in.
