As we wrap up after a massive week for the team at masters nationals and for our CrossFit crew at the Down under championships.
It’s important to consider, and prevent sinking into the post comp blues.
This is a common phenomenon after any big experience. From the Olympian all the way down to the hobbiest, when are you have been working so hard for months, Sometimes even years.
Your moment has come, full of emotion. Whether ending in victory or opportunity has slipped through your fingers. Either scenario can leave you drained.
What we do afterwards can be key to avoiding slipping into unhealthy habits, undoing all the hard work that you have done for months, and making sure when you climb the mountain again, you’re not starting from base camp.
Key to avoiding the post comp blues is undergoing a process of reflection and setting yourself new targets. Both short and long-term.
It’s also important to give yourself some time to have a break, get out of the gym, fill the other cups of your life which you have been neglecting in pursuit of your athletic goal.
When you feel ready, it’s time to get back to work and start working towards your next amazing adventure.
If you’re feeling lost in the coming week, send us a DM and we can give you a structure for reflection and setting your next goals. We can help with making the next plan.
