Kamameja is a remote, private property tucked away near the Wollemi National Park in the Upper Hunter region of NSW. We offer off-grid bush camping and mountain bike riding with four mountain bike trails that sweep through amazing country with caves, creeks and views of the mountains. Our XC trail is a loop that is suitable for all bikes and riders, and our three gravity trails include the downhil
l 'Onemile' for the hardcore crew, the fast, flowy and jump-packed 'Phantom' that is guaranteed to leave a smile on your face, and our 'Flow' track - a longer, scenic ride to the bottom that is a great mix of descents, mountain views, and the occasional need to pedal. A great feature of our gravity tracks is that they join up in places, so you can choose your own adventure if you like - start with some downhill on Onemile, then jump over to Phantom and finish off with a bit of fun. We welcome all riders, no matter your ability or skill - every ride is a practice run! Our gravity trails do have some technical features and steep descents however that are probably more suitable for intermediate+ riders. In saying that, all jumps and tricky features have B lines, and it doesn't have to be a race to the bottom. Camping
Kamameja has a dedicated campground with 3 secluded camping spots on the property. There is a separate access road, toilet facilities and a link trail over to the main MTB tracks. All campers are welcome, riders and non-riders. Please note the campsite is 4wd access only - off camper trailers can access the campground, however our access road is not suitable for caravans or standard two-wheel drives. Given that we are surrounded by national park - dogs are not permitted unfortunately. Shuttles
We offer a shuttle service for those that are less keen to pedal back to the top (its a big hill...) with a troop carrier and bike trailer that seats up to 8 people that will take you back to the top of the trail head to access all 4 tracks. Given that our tracks are gravity focused - this is a great way to make the most of your day at Kamameja. Shuttles run on a per booking basis only. Location
We are located in the Upper Hunter region of NSW, near Jerrys Plains. We are a remote location with approximately 22 km of gravel access road that winds through some stunning mountain ranges. Please note you need to pass through private property and national park to reach our location - shut all gates that you come through, respect national park rules and drive to conditions. We recommend accessing our property by 4wd (although a bot of clearance goes a long way). Our campsite is 4wd access only. Bookings
So how to access all of this goodness you ask?! All of our bookings (riding and camping) are done online through Hipcamp. You can book a day-pass to come out for the day, or book a campsite and make the most of your visit. Shuttles are optional and can be added to either a day-pass or campsite booking. Please note shuttles must be booked in advance before arriving at the property so that we can schedule accordingly. Booking as a group, big or small, with like-minded friends is a great way to ride at your own pace and make the most of your visit. Full send, or nice and easy with plenty of time to practise those technical skills - its up to you! To book please visit our Hipcamp site at: https://www.hipcamp.com/en-AU/discover/new-south-wales/kamameja-remote-bush-camp
Costs
Our day use pass is $5 per person for riders or non-riders to access the property that contributes to maintenance and insurance costs. Bushwalking is also included in the day use fee. Any riders are welcome to use all four tracks as part of a day-pass, however no shuttles are provided. Our XC track is a loop with the same start and finish, however if you don't mind a pretty decent climb all tracks can be used on a day pass. Shuttles are $200 for two hours (4 to 6 runs) for up to 8 people, or $400 for 5 hours (10 to 15 runs). If you bring a crew and fill the vehicle for the day the cost doesn't change, but if you also like the idea of having the place to yourself with just a couple of riders you have that option as well. We are a small, family-run operation that enjoy giving people the opportunity to experience our property, ride bikes, have a proper off-grid camping adventure - and have fun!
