Students at the University of Sydney as well as community members are able to join the club after they become a member of Sydney University Sport & Fitness (SUSF). Coached Class Times: Mon & Wed 5.30-7.30pm

Open/Independent Training: Fri 5.30

-7.30pm

We are located on the 4th floor of the Education Building Annex, in between Old Teacher's College and the Arena, on the Camperdown campus of Sydney Uni. Our equipment includes a sprung floor, mini trampolines, a pommel horse, mushroom, parallel bars, uneven bars, beams, big trampoline and many crashmats. Annual gymnastics membership fee is $80 flat rate. Membership includes access to the gymnasium, equipment, independent training sessions and group classes! There will be classes during academic holidays, but not public holidays. Classes are for people of all levels, from Beginners to Advanced. Using a diverse training structure, each 2 hour class consists of a warmup, stretch, tumbling, fitness and ends with more stretching. We offer a free trial class, however, for club insurance, you must sign up with SUSF as a member ($10 for students, $60 for non-students) before trying a class. SUSF membership covers the cost of insurance in the unfortunate instance you are injured. You will die during training, and then our coaches will kill you again. You will become a better human being than you have ever been. And you will get to hang out with awesome people. The only thing you should NEVER do - wear shoes on the tumbling mats! Otherwise, knock yourself out (not literally)!

Happy week thirteen people! Since coached classes wrap up this week, let's finish off the semester with dinner together.

We have a table at 📍Forest Lodge Hotel next Wednesday at 8pm. Because sessions are switching to open trainings, no need to sign up for class. We can walk down from training together or meet you right at the pub.

Please RSVP to the event on facebook so that we know you're coming. Can't wait to see you 🎉

🔥SUG merch drop!🔥

Our fresh new merch has been a big hit in the gym, with our gymnasts already putting the breathable and stylish wear through its paces 🤸‍♀️🕺🏋️‍♂️🏃‍♀️

This extensive and high quality range was the result of the great efforts and creativity of our Exec team, new designs developed by .are.southern with one being a revamp of original ‘Do More Handstands’ design from 2021 🎨🤩

We’re looking forward to seeing more of our gymnasts don this wear and realise new gains. Keep an eye out for our Round 2 release! 👀

Thank you Maria and Sam from for holding an eye opening (and spine mobilising) workshop, focused on how our Sydney Uni gymnasts can make flexibility gains safely💡🔓 🤸‍♂️

Sharing their expert physiotherapy perspectives, Maria and Sam guided our gymnasts through a variety of crucial concepts, prompting an excellent and interactive reflection on how and why we stretch and train for flexibility 🤔🧩📈

Our gymnasts and coaches are implementing these concepts into training and teaching, to safely boost our flex gains 💪

Throwback Sunday 🙋‍♀️

We had so much fun in January doing excursions to Bunnerong gymnastics each week! Wednesday nights we got two and a half hours to ourselves to work on anything we wanted (within reason 😆). So many people tried new skills, got on new apparatus’, and made new friends 💝

Keep an eye out because we would love to do something similar again!! Comment something you’d want to learn if you had access to Bunnerong, or something you already learnt there!

We’re almost finished with the first week of uni - we hope it went well for everyone! To celebrate the start of 2026 we are hosting our welcome to sem dinner and drinks on the 11th of March at 8pm!

We’ll head down to the Alfred hotel after training on Wednesday in week 3 to kick back and get to know each other better. Don’t worry if you can’t make it to training - you can come straight to dinner if that works for you!

Especially if you’re a new student or member, this will be the perfect time to make some new friends and see people outside of gym mode 🤸

There’s an event in our Facebook group you can respond to if you plan on going, so please let us know. Can’t wait to see you all there 👋

February is here, and SUG is preparing to start another big year as classes start and our Annexe space reopens. After time away from training, jumping straight back into full gymnastics loads can increase your injury risk - even if you feel fresh and ready to go. To help you get back into the routine, we've asked for some advice from the professionals at on how to resume training safely.

🤸‍♀️ Returning to Gymnastics Safely 🤸‍♂️

The Return to Training principles remind us that:

✨ Strength, endurance and coordination all decondition with time

✨ Gymnastics skills and movement patterns require gradual re-exposure to load and complexity

✨ Training load should be progressed intentionally (volume, intensity, duration, frequency & recovery)

🔑 A safe return to gymnastics involves:

• Gradual progression over weeks, not sessions

• Starting with reduced volume and skill complexity early on to allow your body to adapt

• Reintroduction of impact, hanging and high-load skills steadily over 2-4 weeks

• Listen to your body and do not ignore any niggles. Check in with if something does not feel right

💡 The goal isn’t to rush back - it’s to return confident and capable, so you can keep training and making progress all semester long.

👉 Not sure where to start?

The team at is here to guide you through a structured return to training plan, with today's tips provided by physiotherapist Sam Yeung.

Keep an eye out for upcoming posts where we dive into practical tips for managing your training load. 👀
